A blast furnace cooling arrangemenet comprises a cooling screen which is disposed in an annular space between a furnace shell and its lining, and which is formed by vertically arranged rows of plates provided with main and additional internal ducts having common inlets and common outlets. Mounted above the cooling screen are drum separators which communicate through supply pipelines and take-off pipelines with the common inlets and outlets of the main and additional ducts of the plates of each vertical row, the above elements forming closed circuits of natural circulation of a cooling medium. Connected at the common inlets and outlets of the additional ducts of the vertical rows of the plates are circuits of forced circulation of a cooling medium. Each of the circuitsof forced circulation comprises a container communicating with the common outlet of the additional ducts, a heat exchanger connected with the container, and a pump communicating through its inlet with the heat exchanger and through its outlet with the common inlet of the additional ducts in the vertical row of the plates. The common inlets and outlets of the additional ducts are provided with distributing valves intended to selectively connect the additional ducts to the circuits of natural and forced circulation of a cooling medium.

Blast furnace cooling arrangement

A cooler for a shaft furnace comprises a metal plate for protecting the furnace walls from the heat effect arranged in the way of heat flow and a means for cooling said plate. The plate is made in the form of metal pipes filled with a coolant and sealed at the ends thereof. The coolant-filled ends of the pipes are rigidly fixed to the plate, and the coolant-free ends of said pipes are mounted within a cooling chamber with the coolant circulating therethrough. The cooling chamber is arranged exteriorly of the furnace wall. The coolant-free ends of the pipes are disposed slightly above those filled with the coolant. The plate is formed of two layers, namely, a high-heat-conducting layer and a low-heat-conducting one, the former facing the furnace working space and the latter being presented to the furnace wall. The interfacial plane of the layers is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the pipes. The present invention can be advantageously used for the protection of blast-furnace shells.

Cooler for a shaft furnace

A contrivance for the protection of the walls of a shaft furnace from heat effect comprising a metal plate serving to shield the surface of walls facing the interior of the furnace and at least two essentially U-shaped tubes for a coolant linked up with the plate and attached to the furnace wall with their open ends. The plate is more longer in the vertical direction than wide in the horizontal one and is made up of separate blocks, each block being more wider in the horizontal direction than long in the vertical one and is provided with grooves accommodating the tubes in that surface which faces the furnace wall. The grooves are lined with a layer of heat conductor, and provided in the intervals between the grooves are means of fastening each block to the tubes which, in their turn, are provided with fasteners welded thereto and serving the purpose of attaching to the wall.
