A head mounted compact goggle based video oculography system comprises: a goggle base surrounding the subject's eyes; an angled hot mirror; at least one digital camera attached to the goggle base along the top side of the goggle base taking images of at least one of the subject's eyes via a hot mirror reflection; an integral display for selectively displaying visual stimulus to the subject through the hot mirror and attached to the goggle base along the rear side of the goggle base; a controller coupled to the display generating each visual stimulus for each neuro-otologic test to be displayed to the subject via the display and coupled to each digital camera and receiving and storing data signals there from, the controller configured to calculate eye related data from the digital camera images during each neuro-otologic test, and configured to display the eye related data to users.

A video oculography (VOG) system for calculation and display of Corrective Secondary Saccades Analysis is disclosed and utilized in a method for Objective Diagnostics of Internuclear Opthalmopligia, Ocular Lateral Pulsion, Progressive Supernuclear Palsy and Glissades. The method comprises the steps of using a VOG system to calculate corrective saccades. The VOG based system is configured to collect eye images of the patient in excess of 60 hz and configured to resolve eye movements smaller than at least 3 degrees of motion and collects eye movement data wherein at least one fixation target is presented to the subject in a defined position configured to yield a voluntary saccadic eye response from at least one eye of the patient. The latency, amplitude, accuracy and velocity of each respective corrective saccade and totals latency and accuracy are calculated.

A method of measuring and analyzing an ocular response in a subject comprising the steps of: Providing a video oculography based system for the subject with the system configured to collect eye images in excess of 60 hz and configured to resolve eye movements smaller than at least 3 degrees of motion; Collecting eye data with the video oculography based system wherein at least one stimulus is presented to only one eye of the subject and configured to yield a pupil eye response from at least one eye of the subject; Calculating pupilometry measurements from the eye data, wherein the pupil measurements are calculated independently for the subject's left and right eyes for each stimulus presented to the subject, and wherein comparative left and right pupilometry measurements from the eye data are calculated; analyzing a subject's ocular response based upon at least one of the calculated pupilometry measurements.

Method of measuring and analyzing ocular response in a subject using stable pupillary parameters with video oculography system

A method and associated apparatus for validating testing procedure in objective ophthalmic eye testing is implemented for eye evaluation applications requiring subject compliance with eye fixation to a visual target. The method comprises the steps of: supplying a predetermined visual fixation target to the subject in a predetermined location with an automated ophthalmic eye testing device, wherein the testing procedure of the eye evaluation application requires the subject to fixate upon the visual fixation stimulus; tracking the subject's gaze during at least the supplying of the predetermined visual fixation stimulus to the subject throughout the testing procedure of the eye evaluation application with a video based eye tracking system; and validating the testing procedure by at least one of i) indicating to the clinician when the subject's gaze location differs from the predetermined visual fixation stimulus by an amount greater than a predetermined threshold amount, and ii) having the automated ophthalmic eye testing device repeat at least portions of the testing procedures when the subject's gaze location differs from the predetermined visual fixation stimulus by an amount greater than a predetermined threshold amount.
