In some such examples, the electrode includes a ring disposed in the opening and an arm, where the arm has a first portion extending outward from the opening away from the housing and a second portion extending from an end of the first portion toward the housing and into the cavity, and the first and second portions connect at a bend.

Example headsets and methods for gathering electroencephalographic signals are disclosed herein. An example headset includes an adjustment assembly including a first support to be disposed on a first side of a head of a person and a second support to be disposed on a second side of the head of the person. The example headset also includes an adjustor operatively coupled to the first support. Further, the example headset includes an electrode strip and a tension strap having a first end operatively coupled to the adjustor and a second end operatively coupled to the second support.

Methods and apparatus to gather and analyze electroencephalographic data

Example apparatus and methods for gathering electroencephalographic signals are disclosed herein. An example apparatus includes a band to be worn on a head of a person and a first strip adjustably coupled to the band. The example apparatus also includes a first set of electrodes coupled to the first strip to gather a first set of signals from the head and a magnetic fastener to couple the first strip to the band.

Example electrode units described herein include a housing defining a cavity, conductive paste disposed on an inner wall of the cavity and an electrode disposed in the cavity and spaced apart from the inner wall of the cavity. The electrode extends from the cavity, and the conductive paste is to shield the electrode from noise.

Example methods are disclosed herein that include obtaining electroencephalographic (EEG) data from a subject via a device comprising two or more independently adjustable bands, each of the bands having a plurality of electrodes to detect the electroencephalographic data from a brain of the subject, each band selectively rotatable relative to an adjacent band and each band selectively compressible to increase a force of the electrodes against a head of the subject. The example method also includes converting the EEG data into digital EEG signals and conditioning the digital EEG signals. In addition, the example method includes analyzing the digital EEG signals using one or more analysis protocols to determine a mental characteristic of the subject and transmitting the mental characteristic to an output device.

Example headsets and electrodes are described herein. Example electrode units described herein include a guide defining an opening and an electrode disposed in the opening. The electrode has a housing, a spring, and a pin. The pin is biased outward from a first end of the housing via the first spring. The example electrode units also include a second spring disposed over the opening adjacent a second end of the housing.
