In an aspect, an M-type ferrite comprises an element Me comprising at least one of Ba, Sr, or Pb; an element Me' comprising at least one of Ti, Zr, Ru, or Ir; and an element Me″ comprising at least one of In or Sc. In another aspect, a method of making the M-type ferrite can comprise milling ferrite precursor compounds comprising oxides of at least Co, Fe, Me, Me′, and Me″ to form an oxide mixture; wherein Me comprises at least one of Ba, Sr, or Pb; Me′ is at least one of Ti, Zr, Ru, or Ir; and Me″ is at least one of In or Sc; and calcining the oxide mixture in an oxygen or air atmosphere to form the ferrite.

M-type hexaferrite having a planar anisotropy

In an aspect, a ferrite composition can comprise a SbCo—M-type ferrite having the formula: MeSbCoM'FeO, wherein Me is at least one of Sr, Pb, or Ba; M′ is at least one of Ti, Zr, Ru, or Ir; x is 0.001 to 0.3; and y is 0.8 to 1.3. In another aspect, a method of making the ferrite composition comprises mixing ferrite precursor compounds comprising Me, Fe, Sb, Co, and M′; and sintering the ferrite precursor compounds in an oxygen atmosphere to form the SbCo—M-type ferrite. In yet another aspect, a composite comprises the ferrite composition and a polymer. In still another aspect, an article comprises the ferrite composition.

M-type hexaferrite comprising antimony

In an aspect, a CoZ-type ferrite comprises oxides of at least Me, Co, Mo, Li, and Fe; wherein Me is at least one of Ba or Sr. In another aspect, the CoZ-type ferrite comprises a Z-type hexaferrite an amount of lithium molybdate. In another aspect, the CoZ-type ferrite has a formula LiMoO·BaSrCoMe'Me″FeO, wherein Me′ is at least one of Ti, Mo, Ru, Ir, Zr, or Sn; Me″ is at least one of Zn, Mn, or Mg; x is 0 to 3; y is 0 to 1.8; z is 0 to 1.8; and m is −4 to 4. In yet another aspect, a method of making a CoZ-type ferrite comprises milling an initial CoZ-type ferrite and LiMoOto form a mixed ferrite; and calcining the mixed ferrite to form the CoZ-type ferrite.

Polycrystalline 18H hexaferrite, method of manufacture, and uses thereof

A multiphase ferrite composition includes a primary phase consisting of a MnZn ferrite matrix; and 0.01 to 10 weight percent microscaled inclusion particles comprising an orthoferrite RFeO3 wherein R is a rare earth ion, yttrium iron garnet (YIG), or a combination thereof, wherein the microscaled inclusion particles have an average particle size (D50) of 0.1 micron to 5 microns, and wherein the D50 of the microscaled inclusion particles is smaller than the average particle size (D50) of the MnZn ferrite particles; and optionally 0.01 to 5 weight percent additive; wherein weight percent is based on the total weight of the multiphase ferrite composition. A method of manufacturing the multiphase ferrite composition is also disclosed.

Low loss power ferrites and method of manufacture

In an aspect, a ferrite composition comprises a BiRuCo-M-type ferrite having the formula MeBiCoRuFeO, wherein Me is at least one of Sr, Pb, or Ba; x is 0.01 to 0.5; y is 0.1 to 2; z is 0 to 4, and t is 0 to 4; wherein the Co can be at least partially replaced by at least one of Zn, Cu, or Mg by an amount of less than y, and the Ru can be at least partially replaced by at least one of Ti, Sn, or Zr, where the substitution amount is not more than z or is less than z.

Bismuth ruthenium M-type hexaferrite

Described herein is a nanocrystalline ferrite having the formula NiMCoFeO, wherein M is at least one of Zn, Mg, Cu, or Mn, x is 0.01 to 0.8, y is 0.01 to 0.8, and z is &#x2212;0.5 to 0.5, and wherein the nanocrystalline ferrite has an average grain size of 5 to 100 nm. A method of forming the nanocrystalline ferrite can comprise high energy ball milling.

Nanocrystalline cobalt doped nickel ferrite particles, method of manufacture, and uses thereof

In an aspect, a CoZ ferrite has the formula: (BaSr)CoMFeO. M is at least one of Mo, Ir, or Ru. The variable x can be 0 to 0.8, or 0.1 to 0.8. The variable y can be 0 to 0.8, or 0.01 to 0.8. The variable z can be &#x2212;2 to 2. The CoZ ferrite can have an average grain size of 5 to 100 nanometers, or 30 to 80, or 10 to 40 nanometers as measured using at least one of transmission electron microscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, or x-ray diffraction.

Z-type hexaferrite having a nanocrystalline structure

A multilayer film includes a substrate; a first magnetic layer disposed on the substrate and a second magnetic layer disposed on the first magnetic layer. The first magnetic layer includes FeNBM, wherein M is Si, Ta, Zr, Ti, Co, or a combination thereof. The second magnetic layer includes FeNor FeNTa. The multilayer magnetic film has, over a frequency range of 50 MHz to 10 GHz, a magnetic permeability of greater than or equal to 1800 over a selected frequency band in the frequency range; a magnetic loss tangent of less than or equal to 0.3 over a selected frequency band in the frequency range; and a cutoff frequency of greater than or equal to 1 GHz, or greater than or equal to 2 GHz.

High frequency magnetic films, method of manufacture, and uses thereof

In an aspect, a multiphase ferrite comprises a CoW phase that is optionally doped with Ru; a CFO phase having the formula Me'CoFeO, wherein Me' is at least one of Ni, Zn, or Mg, r is 0 to 0.5, and z is &#x2212;0.5 to 6 0.5; and a CoRu-BaM phase having the formula BaCoRuFeO, wherein x is 0 to 2, y is 0.01 to 2; and the Ba can be partially replaced by at least one of Sr or Ca. In another aspect, a composite can comprise a polymer and the multiphase ferrite. In yet another aspect, a method of making a multiphase ferrite can comprise mixing and grinding a CoRu-BaM phase ferrite and a CFO phase ferrite to form a mixture; and sintering the mixture in an oxygen atmosphere to form the multiphase ferrite.

Multiphase ferrites and composites comprising the same

A magneto-dielectric material operable between a minimum frequency and a maximum frequency, having: a plurality of layers that alternate between a dielectric material and a ferromagnetic material, lowermost and uppermost layers of the plurality of layers each being a dielectric material; each layer of the plurality of ferromagnetic material layers having a thickness equal to or greater than 1/15a skin depth of the respective ferromagnetic material at the maximum frequency, and equal to or less than &#x2155;the skin depth of the respective ferromagnetic material at the maximum frequency; each layer of the plurality of dielectric material layers having a thickness and a dielectric constant that provides a dielectric withstand voltage across the respective thickness of equal to or greater than 150 Volts peak and equal to or less than 1,500 Volts peak; and, the plurality of layers having an overall thickness equal to or less than one wavelength of the minimum frequency in the plurality of layers.

Multi-layer magneto-dielectric material

A magnetic fiber comprises a core comprising a spinel ferrite of formula MeMFeO, wherein Me is Mg, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, or a combination thereof, x=0 to 0.25, and y=1.5 to 2.5, wherein the core is solid or at least partially hollow; and a shell at least partially surrounding the core, and comprising a MeMFealloy, wherein when the core is solid with Me=Ni and x=0 the magnetic fiber has a diameter of greater than 0.3 micrometer. A magneto-dielectric material having a magnetic loss tangent of less than or equal to 0.03 at 1 GHz comprises a polymer matrix; and a plurality of the magnetic fibers.

Magneto-dielectric materials, methods of making, and uses thereof

A grain-oriented M-type hexagonal ferrite has the formula MeFeO, and a dopant effective to provide planar magnetic anisotropy and magnetization in a c-plane, or a cone anisotropy, in the hexagonal crystallographic structure wherein Me is Sr, Baor Pb, and wherein greater than 30%, preferably greater than 80%, of c-axes of the ferrite grains are aligned perpendicular to the c-plane.

Textured planar m-type hexagonal ferrites and methods of use thereof

In an aspect, a composition comprises a plurality of magnetic particles. The magnetic particles each independently comprise a nickel ferrite core having the formula NiMPeO, wherein M is at least one of Zn, Mg, Co, Cu, Al, Mn, or Cr; x is 0 to 0.95, and y=&#x2212;0.5 to 0.5; and an iron nickel shell at least partially surrounding the core, wherein the iron nickel shell comprises iron, nickel, and optionally M. In another aspect, a method of forming the magnetic particles comprises heat treating a plurality of nickel ferrite particles in a hydrogen atmosphere to form the plurality of magnetic particles having the iron nickel shell on the nickel ferrite core. In yet another aspect, a composite can comprise the magnetic particles and a polymer.
