The separate drive makes it possible to define a push-off motion that allows a gentle start of the push-out unit () relative to the book block () to be pushed off on the one hand and a synchronous transfer to the continuously moving pusher () of the infeed channel () on the other hand.

In a device for feeding book blocks () into the infeed channel () of a subsequent processing arrangement with an intermittently rotating star feeder () that features several block receptacles () that are arranged on a roller divided into disks () in a star-shaped fashion and respectively feature perpendicularly aligned first and second locating surfaces (), it is proposed that the star feeder () features several clamping jaws () that are respectively assigned to the block receptacles () and arranged parallel to the second locating surfaces (), as well as movable relative to the latter. The star feeder () can be operated with a significantly higher angular acceleration and rotational speed without risking that the book blocks lose contact in the block receptacles (). Even loosely gathered book blocks () can be flawlessly processed.

In a cover feeding device () for feeding covers () separated from a magazine (') to book blocks () that are transported while being clamped in book block grippers (), it is proposed that the magazine (&#x2032;) features at least a first lateral stop () that is arranged such that it can be fixed transverse to the withdrawal direction () and against which different covers () intended, in particular, for book blocks () of different thickness can be jointly placed, and that at least the magazine (&#x2032;) can be adjusted transverse to the withdrawal direction () such that an edge () of the spine region of the respective cover to be separated is withdrawn essentially in alignment with the rigid gripping jaw ().
