The disclosed apparatus may include unmanned aerial vehicle having (1) a flight system that causes movement and hovering of the unmanned aerial vehicle, (2) a coupling mechanism that interacts with a corresponding coupling mechanism of an electronic device for carrying the electronic device from a remote location to a mount of an infrastructure component, and (3) an extension mechanism connecting the coupling mechanism to the flight system, wherein the extension mechanism dynamically extends the coupling mechanism from the flight system to facilitate installation of the electronic device to the mount while the unmanned aerial vehicle hovers. Various other apparatuses, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

Automated installation of electronic devices on infrastructure components

Various of the disclosed embodiments relate to line-of-sight (LOS), e.g., optical, based networks. Systems and methods for determining where to place and how to configure nodes in an optically connected network across a geographic region are provided. Various factors concerning the region may be collected, including, e.g., building locations and height, building types, population densities, backbone connection locations, recurring weather factors, geographic elevation, etc. The algorithm may iteratively place nodes based upon the accessible range of a preceding contemplated node position.

Deploying line-of-sight communication networks

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving an association request from a nearby electronic device via a local wireless network connection, transmitting a position coordinate associated with a first node via the local wireless network connection to the nearby electronic device, receiving location information of one or more peer nodes from the nearby electronic device, adding the location information of the one or more peer nodes into a log included in the first node, and determining that at least two nodes are within Line-of-Sight (LOS) communication range of the first node based on the log, wherein the at least two nodes are included in the one or more peer nodes.

Alignment in line-of-sight communication networks

The disclosed apparatus may include (1) a mount of an infrastructure component, where the mount includes an installation surface that contacts an installed electronic device, and (2) a coupling mechanism that (a) provides a force causing a corresponding installation surface of the installed electronic device to maintain contact with the installation device, and (b) delivers electrical power via the installation surface to the installed electronic device. Various other apparatuses, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

In one embodiment, a method includes wirelessly coupling a transmitter to a wireless device; determining a first power transfer value of a signal transmitted from the transmitter to the wireless device with a first transmit impedance; determining a second power transfer value of the signal transmitted from the transmitter to the wireless device with a second transmit impedance; and selecting the first transmit impedance based on received power-level information indicating that the first power transfer value is greater than the second power transfer value.

System and method for a variable impedance transmitter path for charging wireless devices

In one embodiment, a method includes analyzing information received from a first network-enabled device to identify instructions for a second network-enabled device associated with a second user of a social-networking system, the first network-enabled device being associated with a first user of the social-networking system. The method also includes determining (1) that the first user is connected to the second user with respect to a social graph of the social-networking system and (2) that the first user has authorization to provide instructions to the second network-enabled device, where the authorization is based on social-networking information. The method further includes providing the instructions to the second network-enabled device.

Controlling devices by social networking

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving sensor data from a number of sensors of the computing device. The sensor data corresponds to a particular state associated with the computing device. The method also includes determining a vector corresponding to the received sensor data; and comparing the vector with a pre-determined hyperplane. The hyperplane corresponds to a number of imminent uses of the computing device. The method also includes determining whether the particular state associated with the computing device corresponds to a particular one of the imminent uses of the computing device based on the comparison of the vector with the pre-determined hyperplane.

Calibration of grab detection

An Integrated Circuit (IC) for an RFID tag includes at least two antenna ports for coupling to at least two antennas. The IC may be configured to determine the port from which it receives an input signal, and provide a first functionality if it receives the input from a first port and a second functionality if it receives the input from a second port. The IC may be configured to determine and/or offer a functionality based on the receiving port.

In one embodiment, a method includes accessing at least two determinations of the location of a mobile computing device, with each determined location having been determined without reference to explicit location information manually input by a user of the mobile computing device. At least one first determined location is compared with at least one second determined location, with comparisons being made between location determinations made based on different location determination input. A functionality associated with the mobile computing device is allowed if the first determined location corresponds to at least one of the second determined locations.

Multi-factor location verification

Various of the disclosed embodiments relate to line-of-sight (LOS), e.g., optical, based networks. Particularly, systems and methods are provided for aligning nodes in a line-of-sight communication network with their peers. The nodes may be placed and passively aligned with one another as position information is passed between peers. The elevation indicated in the position information may be refined based upon relative barometric pressure readings between peers. In a next phase, isolated networks of nodes may be integrated with the network of nodes contacting the Internet backbone. Finally, routing algorithms may be implemented to address weather effects (e.g., fog) and congestion to optimize network service.

A system for monitoring electrical power usage in an electrical power infrastructure of a building. The system can include: a power consumption measurement device configured to be coupled to a first surface of the circuit breaker box, the circuit breaker box containing at least part of the electrical supply conductors for the electrical power infrastructure, the power consumption measurement device comprising one or more electrical current sensors; a first calibration device configured to be electrically coupled to the electrical power infrastructure, the first calibration device comprising one or more first calibration loads; and a calibration module configured to be performed using one or more processors and further configured to at least partially calibrate the power consumption measurement device using a Kalman filter and data obtained from the one or more electrical current sensors of the power consumption measurement device. The power consumption measurement device is configured to obtain at least part of the data while at least one of the one or more first calibration loads is electrically coupled to the electrical power infrastructure and while the power consumption measurement device is coupled to the first surface of the circuit breaker box. Other embodiments are provided.

System and method for monitoring electrical power usage in an electrical power infrastructure of a building

Techniques for multi-protocol peer-to-peer connection are described. An apparatus may comprise a discovery component to discover a remote device using a first protocol, and receive discovery information from the remote device, the discovery information including protocol information. The apparatus may comprise an authentication component to authenticate the remote device. The apparatus may comprise a connection component to establish a peer-to-peer connection with the remote device using a second protocol based on the protocol information. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
