An oral hygiene composition includes a mixture of: (i) a carrier liquid; and (ii) a water-insoluble hydratable polymer fibers forming an entangled three-dimensional network of said water-insoluble hydratable polymer fibers in said carrier; wherein: said carrier liquid comprises one or more humectant in a concentration of total humectant in excess of 5 wt. % based on the weight of the composition; said composition has an elastic modulus G' and a loss modulus G″, and said elastic modulus G′ is larger that said loss modulus G″; and said water-insoluble hydratable polymer fibers have a diameter of about 10 to about 20,000 nm and a length of at least 100 nm.

Hollow fiber drug delivery devices are described. Device can contain structural or solid fibers. Fabric can be formed by fibers being interwoven or joined to each other. All or some of the fibers can be resorbable. Fibers can be subdivided, by deformations or closure points, into numerous compartments that separately deliver drug. Deformations can be located at points of fiber intersection or joining. Different drug or drug formulation can be provided in different places. Fibers can be given appropriate surface treatments or coatings to achieve desired properties such as wetting of pores and surfaces. Different release characteristics in different directions can be achieved. The hollow fibers can contain solid particles of drug, and can contain gel. Possible applications include hernia meshes, pouches, sutures, catheters, wound dressings, stents, nerve regrowth guides, refillable/drainable devices, and devices that deliver drug to lymphatic flow.

Method and composition for cleaning tubular systems employing moving three-phase contact lines

An apparatus and method for cleaning passageways and the like with a two-phase mixture of gas under pressure and an aqueous cleaning solution. The two-phase cleaning mixture is generated in a module and is passed out of the module at a predetermined rate that determines droplet size, velocity and droplet density at the pipeline surface to be cleaned. The droplets impact the walls of the passageway to be cleaned, thereby fragmenting, eroding and removing contaminants in said passageway. These are then flushed out of the passageway by the two-phase flow. The flow of cleaning solution can be steady or pulsed. The apparatus and process include a clean-in-place system that is useful in food, beverage, pharmaceutical and similar process industries.
