Embodiments of the present inventions are directed to a system and method for monitoring connectivity between a switch having switch ports and a patch panel having patch panel ports connected by removable cords. The system may include an identification device physically shaped to fit a cavity of the switch port, a communication cord having identification wires to connect the switch port to a patch panel port, a microcontroller mounted on the patch panel to read a unique identification number of the identification device in order to identify a connection between the switch port and the patch panel port and a management station to receive the unique identification from the microcontroller and to store data regarding the connection of the switch port and the patch panel port.

System and method for monitoring physical layer connectivity

According to some embodiments of the invention, a connectivity apparatus is provided. The connectivity apparatus may comprise signal-terminals associated with respective sockets. These signal-terminals may form a portion of a connectivity path for transmission of scanning signals. Accordingly, the connectivity apparatus may enable central mapping of interconnections of the ports.

An interconnect apparatus for providing a communication path for data signals in a predetermined frequency band, that includes a first and a second sections of a transmission line, connected at one end to first and second data transceiving devices, respectively. A switch, such as a mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic, electro-magnetic and electro-optical switch, having conductive/non-conductive states, is provided for connecting/disconnecting between the other ends of the first and the second sections, for providing a data communication path between the data transceiving devices while being in its conductive state a third and a fourth sections of a transmission line, each of which connected at one end to a contact of the switch and at the other end to a first and a second connector, respectively. A compensation circuitry is provided for compensating, within the frequency band, parasitic effects caused by the switch and/or cord, while the switch is in its conductive state or, while the switch is in its non-conductive state and while a connection between the first and the second connectors is provided by a cord having predetermined characteristics, such that the compensation circuitry compensates the influence of parasitic effects introduced along the communication path by the switch while being in its non-conductive state and while the cord is a part of the communication path or, by the combination of the third and a fourth sections and the connectors while the switch is in its conductive state.

High data rate interconnecting device

System and method for automatically obtaining the connectivity status, or map, of a cabling system in data and/or voice networks are disclosed. A suitable retrofit kit for this purpose comprises a plurality of upgraded patch cords for replacement of respective used patch cords through which scanning signals are forwarded by a scanning system and a plurality of adapter panels attached to a respective patch panel that includes for a connectivity status indicator and an electrical contact for mating with the corresponding electrical scanning contact of an upgraded patch cord. Scanning signals received by an electrical contact are processed to generate data that represents the current connectivity status, or map, of the cabling system. A plurality of adapter plugs for initializing the scanning system by a first connectivity status, or map, is also provided. Cabling system management is effected with the first and current connectivity status, or map.

Retrofit kit for interconnect cabling system

A stacked patch panel comprising two plates, such as printed circuit board, each provided with cable connectors and a separate supporting plate, made of rigid material, such as metal. The upper portion of the cable connectors of the lower plate lie in a plane adjacent to or below that of the bottom portion of the upper plate. The panel is also provided with means to anchor the cables and with means to hold the plates in relative alignment and to attach them to a supporting rack.
