A fully functional spectrum analyzer is integrated into an outdoor communications unit of a point-to-point communication system. The spectrum analyzer of the outdoor unit provides for remote spectral diagnostics for network planning and wideband operation and is operable to capture signals outside of the signal bandwidth. With the spectrum analyzer integrated into the outdoor unit, accessing spectral diagnostic information is conducted without having to disrupt the normal operation of the communications network.

An all outdoor unit communication system, for performing cross polarization interference cancellation, is provided. The system includes a first outdoor unit (ODU) configured to receive a first directionally polarized signal, a first RF module configured to convert the first directionally polarized signal into a first in-phase (I) component and a first quadrature (Q) component, and a first modem configured to up-convert the first I and Q components from baseband into a first directionally polarized intermediate frequency (IF) signal. The system being configured to communicate, via an interconnect coupled to the first ODU, a second directionally polarized IF signal to the first ODU, and where the first modem is further configured to utilize the second directionally polarized IF signal to cancel out at least a portion of a first cross-polarization leakage at the first ODU.

A system and method to reduce and/or eliminate interference between an indoor unit (IDU) and an outdoor unit (ODU) in a split backhaul architecture. The interference can be present in, for example, an N-plexer in the IDU and/or the ODU. For example, interference on an outbound signal that is introduced by an inbound signal in the N-plexer can be reduced and/or eliminated by introducing a cancellation signal that is combined with the outbound signal. Further, the N-plexer can include two or more signal cancellation modules configured such that the output of a first signal cancellation module is connected to both a common pathway and the input of the second signal cancellation module. The input of the first signal cancellation module and the output of the second signal cancellation module can be configured as the Tx and Rx pathways of the IDU and/or ODU with respect to the common pathway.

Isolation requirement mitigation for IDU-ODU interconnections in microwave systems

A circulator based transceiver sharing a common antenna between a receive signal path and a transmit signal path is disclosed. Techniques to reduce coupled transmit signals and coupled transmit noise in a receive signal path, implemented in a variety of embodiments is disclosed allowing elimination of a diplexer, simplification of circulator design and reduction of transceiver cost. The transceiver includes means to generate and couple a correction signal into the receive signal path to attenuate coupled transmit signal in the receive path. Furthermore, the transceiver includes echo cancellation techniques to attenuate transmit noise in the receive signal path. Methods to utilize the transceiver to attenuate coupled transmit signal and transmit noise may improve transceiver efficiency, for example, in demodulation techniques and processing of data signal.

An all outdoor unit communication system, for performing cross polarization interference cancellation, is provided. The system includes a first outdoor unit (ODU) configured to receive a horizontally polarized signal, a first RF module configured to convert the horizontally polarized signal into a first in-phase (I) component and a first quadrature (Q) component, and a first modem configured to up-convert the first I and Q components from baseband into a horizontally polarized intermediate frequency (IF) signal. The system also includes a second ODU configured to receive a vertically polarized signal, a second RF module configured to convert the vertically polarized signal into a second I component and a second Q component, and a second modem configured to up-convert the second I and Q components from baseband into a vertically polarized IF signal. The system is configured to share, via an interconnect, the polarized IF signals between the first and second ODUs.
