A method, apparatus and system for medium access control is provided. Time slots configured to include mini slots at the beginnings thereof. Devices are assigned time slot, mini slot combinations as transmission opportunities. A device can attempt to use a transmission opportunity when it has a packet to send, by beginning data transmission in its assigned slot and mini slot and potentially continuing the transmission up until the end of the assigned slot. If another device is already transmitting in the assigned slot, the device refrains from using its transmission opportunity. Higher priority devices can be assigned transmission opportunities corresponding to earlier mini slots within a slot. In some embodiments, multiple devices can be assigned the same transmission opportunity and a collision detection mechanism can be employed. In some embodiments, all devices detect if a slot is idle and advance the beginning of the next slot upon such detection.

Method, apparatus and system for medium access control

A system and method for providing improved in-vehicle wireless connection to roadside access devices for connection to network is described. The system includes an in-vehicle device, one or more roadside access devices, a cloud management server, and backhaul Internet access connection. The roadside access device includes in its broadcasted beacon frame message information required by an in-vehicle device to set network connection parameters. The in-vehicle device automatically connects to roadside access devices for access to the network, using information included in the broadcasted beacon frame message. The first device receives a communication transmitted by the second device, where the communication is intended for another recipient other than the first device. The communication provides information for the first device to determine a preferred transmit sector to be used by the second device for the D2D communication. The first device transmits a communication to the second device that provides information indentifying the preferred transmit sector to be used by the second device. As a receiver in the D2D communication, the first device receives data from the second device, transmitted on the preferred transmit sector. Methods and systems for beamforming for device-to-device communication

Methods and systems for simultaneous transmission between a transmitter and a plurality of receivers. The transmitter receives information identifying respective preferred transmission sectors for transmission from the transmitter to each receiver. The transmitter transmits a first multi-user simultaneous transmission to a first set of two or more receivers. The first set of receivers is selected for the first set by identifying that the preferred transmission sectors for transmission to the first set of receivers are included in a first virtual grouping of two or more transmission sectors.
