A collapsible stent for an implantable prosthetic valve incorporates leaflet-supporting members having relatively large surface area in comparison to other members defining the remainder of the stent. The leaflet-supporting members may have openings extending through them. The valve leaflets may be attached to the stent so that an attached edge of each leaflet extends along the leaflet-supporting members and is attached to the members by polymer integral with the leaflet overlying the leaflet supporting members and extending into the openings of the leaflet supporting members. The secure attachment resists stress on the leaflets.

Stent and implantable valve incorporating same

A mandrel () for molding polymer valve leaflets for heart valve prostheses is disclosed, including a body portion () including an outer surface with ridges () and contoured surfaces () corresponding to the leaflets, the upper edge of the contoured surfaces corresponding to the free upper edge of the leaflets, and the mandrel including a mandrel extension () above the body portion, and a gap () extending around the mandrel between the upper edge of the contoured surface and the mandrel extension. A process for producing these polymer valve leaflets is also disclosed by dip coating with this mandrel and removing the polymer film created at the gap, preferably by applying suction or blowing thereto.

A heart valve annulus sizer is provided for measuring a valve to be fitted with an annuloplasty ring. The sizer may include a body having a peripheral portion defining an opening, at least one rib disposed within the opening and dividing the opening into at least a first opening and a second opening, and an anchor disposed on and projecting from the body. The sizer may include a length of suture connected to the body. The anchor may include an aperture adapted to receive the length of suture. A method of using the sizer is provided that includes grasping the sizer with an instrument and positioning the sizer adjacent to a valve into a position suitable to allow for measurement of the valve.

A prosthetic heart valve includes a stent having a collapsed condition and an expanded condition. The stent includes a plurality of cells, each cell being formed by a plurality of struts, and a plurality of commissure features. The heart valve further includes a valve assembly secured to the stent and including a cuff and a plurality of leaflets, each leaflet being attached to adjacent commissure features and to the stent struts and/or the cuff.

Valve leaflet attachment in collapsible prosthetic valves

An adjustable annuloplasty ring includes a body in the form of an endless loop having an internal lumen therethrough, an adjustment suture extending through at least a portion of the internal lumen, a first portion of the suture exiting the lumen through a first opening in the body and a second portion of the suture exiting the lumen through a second opening in the body, and a first adjustment marker on the first portion of the suture outside of the body. The suture may be adapted to reduce the length of the body around the loop when tightened.

A support for an adjustable annuloplasty ring generally includes a body and a groove. The body has a first end, a second end and an outer surface. The body may also include an inner surface defining a longitudinal bore. The outer surface is configured to slidably receive an annuloplasty ring and a length of adjustable suture. The groove is formed along at least a portion of the outer surface of the body and is dimensioned to receive at least a portion of the suture.

Adjustable annuloplasty ring support

A prosthetic heart valve has an annular valve-perimeter-shape-defining structure having a radially outer surface. A clip structure is provided on the outer surface. This clip structure is used to attach flexible valve leaflets to the shape-defining structure. One or more retainer members may be used to help hold the leaflets in the clip structure.

Techniques for attaching flexible leaflets of prosthetic heart valves to supporting structures

A prosthetic heart valve of the type that includes a hollow annular stent and a plurality of flexible leaflets that are attached to the stent. One or more fixture structures are used to attach the leaflets to the stent so that sutures do not have to be used for that purpose. The fixture structures preferably extend annularly at least substantially all the way around the valve. Surfaces of the fixture structures that can come into contact with portions of the leaflets that move during use of the valve can be shaped to help beneficially shape those leaflet portions during their movements.

Prosthetic heart valves with flexible leaflets

A prosthetic heart valve includes an annular stent structure having a plurality of annularly spaced stent post regions, a plurality of leaflets that extend radially inward from the stent structure and that include radially outer portions that lie against a radially outer surface of the stent structure, and a clamping structure that is radially outside the other components and that clamps the radially outer portions of the leaflets against the radially outer surface of the stent structures to secure the leaflets to the stent structure. The above-described structural arrangement applies to the stent post regions as well as to other portions of the stent structure.
