The method includes determining, by a network discovery function, application orchestration information describing placement of instances of one or more applications in the edge cloud system; generating, by the network discovery function, one or more access network policies for the user equipment based on the application orchestration information; and transmitting, by the network discovery function, the one or more access network policies to the user equipment such that, based on the one or more access network policies, the user equipment is to select one or more of an access network from a plurality of access networks available to the user equipment for the user equipment to connect to and which access network from the plurality of access networks to route particular data flows.

Dynamic access network selection based on application orchestration information in an edge cloud system

The application relates to a method for operating a first scaling entityof a container based cloud infrastructure distributed over a plurality of geographically distributed edge sites-of a network, wherein the container based cloud infrastructure provides at least one service to a user of the network, the method comprising: the step of determining at least one performance parameter influencing a performance how a first part of the container based cloud infrastructure provided on a first edge site of the plurality of edge sites where the first scaling entity is located provides the service to the user. Based on the determined at least one performance parameter, it is determined whether a scaling of the cloud infrastructure located on at least one other edge site of the plurality of geographically distributed edge sites outside the first edge site is necessary, wherein in the affirmative, an amendment of the container based cloud infrastructure is determined at the at least one other edge site which is configured to provide the service to the user. Automatic and dynamic adaptation of grouping in a data processing system

A method and a first node for managing transmission of at least one probe message for detection of failure of a second node are disclosed. A network comprises the first and second nodes. The first node receives a message about an event related to the second node. The message comprises an identifier of the second node and an event type of the event. The first node retrieves at least one policy for failure detection based on the event type. The first node modifies a probe list based on said at least one policy with respect to the second node. The probe list indicates an order in which nodes, neighbouring to the first node, are to be probed by transmission of the probe messages thereto. Delivery of delay-tolerant data according to a predicted mobility of a user device in a network-controlled client cache architecture. A network node receives information about a predicted mobility of a user device, and monitors a network status of radio access nodes of a communication network, based on the received information about predicted mobility. Based on the monitored network status, the network node determines when, and via which radio access node, to transfer the requested data. A user device can send information about a predicted mobility of the user devices, together with information about data being requested, and receive information about when to initiate a transfer of the requested data, based on the predicted mobility of the user device. Embodiments of the present disclosure relates to communication over a network comprising network slices. According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, there provide a method performed by a network node. The method comprises: informing, in response to determination that user traffic of at least one user equipment needs to be redirected from a first network slice to a second network slice, a control plane function node supporting the first network slice of a redirecting user traffic request. Compared with the second network slice, a way of handling a control plane and/or user plane for communication services in the second network slice is different from that in the first network slice. A control plane load in a mobile network is managed. The mobile network includes a radio access network having a base station adapted for connecting to a plurality of user equipments (UEs) over a radio interface, and a core network (CN). The RAN determines a RAN control plane load, and transmits an information indicative of the RAN control plane load over a mobility management server to a policy server of the CN to initiate a traffic management in the CN based on the RAN control plane load.
