According to some embodiments, a method performed by a network node for decoding a channel state information (CSI) report comprises generating a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) scrambling sequence, descrambling a PUSCH using the PUSCH scrambling sequence, decoding a CSI report part one to determine a rank indicator, and determining a location of a CSI report part two. The method further comprises extracting a scrambling sequence from the PUSCH scrambling sequence corresponding to the location of the CSI report part two, generating a CSI part two scrambling sequence based on the PUSCH scrambling sequence and the location of the CSI report part two, and applying the extracted scrambling sequence to the location of the CSI report part two. The method further comprises descrambling the location of the CSI report part two in the PUSCH using the CSI part two scrambling sequence and decoding the CSI part two.

According to certain embodiments, a method for use in a network node for scheduling wireless transmissions using a plurality of multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) transmission layers comprises determining a first wireless device is spatially pairable with a second wireless device and that a scheduling priority of the first device is higher than the second device. The method further comprises allocating frequency domain resources of a first transmission layer for the first device according to its scheduling priority and allocating frequency domain resources in a second transmission layer for the second device according to the priority of the first device. The amount of frequency domain resources allocated in the second transmission layer is no larger than that allocated in the first transmission layer. The method further comprises transmitting the data to first wireless device on first transmission layer and to second wireless device on the second transmission layer.

Methods and apparatuses are provided for network testing. In one embodiment, a method in an unmanned vehicle includes controlling a movement of the unmanned vehicle carrying the UE according to a testing location algorithm, the testing location algorithm comprising moving the unmanned vehicle carrying the UE to at least one candidate testing location, determining at least one measurement value at the at least one candidate testing location and determining a reference location based at least in part on the determined at least one measurement value. In another embodiment, a method in a network node initiating a launch of at least one unmanned vehicle of a plurality the unmanned vehicle carrying the UE to at least one candidate testing of unmanned vehicles, each of the at least one unmanned vehicle moving one of the plurality of UEs to a reference location, each reference location corresponding to a testing location.

According to certain embodiments, a method for use in a network node for scheduling wireless transmissions comprises determining a channel quality weight for a first wireless channel based on its number of information bits and a channel quality weight for a second wireless channel based on its number of information bits. The number of information bits is based on a signal to interference plus noise (SINR) measurement and a modulation coding scheme of the wireless channels. The method further comprises determining a scheduling weight for the first wireless device based on the channel quality weight for the first wireless channel, determining a scheduling weight for the second wireless device based on the channel quality weight for the second wireless channel, and scheduling a transmission to one of the first and second wireless devices based on the scheduling weights of the first and second wireless devices.

A method in a first network node, which comprises a primary Radio Link Control (RLC) entity is provided. The method comprises: receiving packets from a PDCP entity and sending packets to a PDCP entity; separating the received packets into at least a first group and a second group; assigning sequence numbers to the packets of the first group from a sequence number range allocated to at least one the secondary RLC entity in a second network node, the at least one secondary RLC connected to the primary RLC entity through a RLC channel; sending the packets of the first group with the assigned sequence numbers to the at least one secondary RLC entity.

A method in a wireless device is provided. The method includes: receiving a downlink signal, wherein the downlink signal includes a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) and a Physical downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH), the PDCCH having first downlink Control Information (DCI) indicating at least second downlink control information (DCI) in the PDSCH; and performing one of encoding and decoding user data in the PDSCH based on the first DCI and second DCI. A method in a receiving node includes: receiving one or more code block groups, CBGs, each CBG comprising a CBG header indicative of a start location of a first protocol data unit, PDU, within the CBG; attempting to decode each received CBG; responsive to failing to decode a first CBG, attempting to decode a second CBG, and responsive to successfully decoding the second CBG: identifying the start location of the first PDU in the second CBG; buffering data of the second CBG prior to the identified start location; and forwarding data of PDUs following the identified start location.

Systems and methods for enhanced link adaptation are provided. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a network node includes calculating an actual RE efficiency based at least in part on an actual TBS obtained from a specification. The TBS may be obtained from a specification based on LA result and actual buffer data volume. The method also includes determining a real BLER from a searchable repository, based on the actual RE efficiency and an actual BLER. The method may further include calculating an actual outer-loop adjustment (OLA) step based on the actual BLER. The method may further include a dynamic outer-loop up/down step adjustment based on the actual OLA step.

According to some embodiments, a method for polar encoding includes obtaining an input bits index array Q, wherein each element Q[i] is an index of a polar coded transmission channel and corresponds to an input U[i] of a polar encoder. The elements of Q are ordered according to their associated channel quality. The method further includes obtaining an integer number X of bits for polar encoding and wireless transmission, wherein X is not greater than N. Upon determining the polar code block length N is not greater than the number of rate matched bits M available for transmission, the method includes assigning each of the bits as inputs to the polar encoder ordered according to the input bits index array Q.

According to some embodiments, a method for use in a wireless transmitter of a wireless communication network comprises (1) calculating information carrying bits per resource block group (RBG) or physical resource block (PRB) based on a channel condition (e.g., signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR)); (2) estimating the required information bits and number of RBGs based on the desired number of bits to be transmitted and the number of available RBGs; (3) determining the MCS and TBS based on the estimated information bits, the required number of RBGs, number of layers, and RBG size; (4) adjusting the MCS and TBS based on the MCS index and TBS calculated at step 3, the number of required RBGs, and the accumulated information bits calculated from step 2; and (5) determining an MCS state based on the TBS and the accumulated information bits.

A method and system for performing link adaptation are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method in a wireless communication system for performing link adaptation is provided. The method includes, when a first measure of channel quality is higher than a first predetermined amount, using a first outer loop adjustment process directed to determining link adaptation for a first data transmission transmitted to a wireless device. The method also includes, when the first measure of channel quality is lower than a second predetermined amount, using a second outer loop adjustment process different from the first outer loop adjustment process directed to determining link adaptation for a second data transmission transmitted to the wireless device.

There is provided a method performed by a wireless device for handling user data, wherein the user data are converted into codewords, each codeword having a first group of layers and a second group of layers. The method comprises: receiving an index from a network node, the index indicating a Transport Block Size (TBS) index, a Redundant Version (RV) and a differential modulation; determining a TBS based on the received index; determining a redundant version value based on the received index; determining a first modulation order for the first group and a second modulation order for the second group of a codeword, based on the differential modulation; and performing one of decoding and encoding the codeword based at least on the determined first and second modulation orders, the determined TBS and the determined redundant version value.

Method and node for decoding or encoding user data based on a joint TBS index and redundant version

Methods and systems for Long Term Evolution (LTE) and Fifth Generation (5G) beam index filtering are presented. According to one aspect, a method for beam index filtering comprises receiving a beam index that was estimated based on information received from a User Equipment (UE); storing the received beam index into a queue of length N for storing received beam indexes, N being greater than one; selecting a beam index from the queue according to a filtering algorithm; and using the selected beam index for transmissions to the UE. In one embodiment, a majority vote algorithm is employed to select the beam index that appears most often in the queue. Where there is a tie between two or more beam indexes, the beam index that was most recently added to the queue is selected. The same concepts may be applied to filter input data or parameters other than beam indexes.
