A system and method for controlling a heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system is provided. Aspects include receiving, from a sensor, operational data associated with the HVAC system, receiving, from the sensor, environmental data associated with the HVAC system, analyzing the operational data and the environmental data to determine a potential comfort issue with the HVAC system, receiving a discomfort index associated with the HVAC system, plotting an indicia on the discomfort index based on the operational data and the environmental data, and determining a root cause of the potential comfort issue based at least in part on a coordinate of the indicia on the discomfort index.

A controller is configured to control and set thresholds for one or more parameters of the chiller system, the chiller system includes one or more cooling tower, one or more pumps, and one or more water chillers, and one or more sensors operably coupled to the controller, the one or more sensors are configured to measure values for one or more parameters. A processor is coupled to the controller, the processor is configured to generate a coordination map based on the measured values and the thresholds for the one or more parameters, configure an operating setpoint for the chiller system based on the coordination map, and control the chiller system based at least in part on the configured operating setpoint.

The fault detection method includes: automatically learning to obtain a monotonically decreasing fault detection characteristic curve Y=K(X&#x2212;XMAX)+A by using an electrical power consumption of the liquid pump and a high-pressure-side pressure of the injector; wherein when Y and A are 0, X corresponds to a maximum high-pressure-side pressure Xmax of the injector; and when the current pressure of the injector Xcurrent&#x2264;Xmax: if the current electrical power consumption Ycurrent&#x3c;K(Xcurrent&#x2212;Xmax)+A, then a probability of the injector state of the air conditioning system being normal is greater than a first preset value; and if the current electrical power consumption Ycurrent&#x3e;K(Xcurrent&#x2212;Xmax)+A, a probability of the injector of the air conditioning system having a fault is greater than a second preset value.

The control method includes: S100, acquiring an actual cooling/heating capacity output by the air conditioning system, and acquiring an actual temperature change rate of an indoor heat exchange unit; S200, automatically learning a heat exchange load characteristic curve of the indoor heat exchange unit based on the actual cooling/heating capacity and the temperature change rate; S300, acquiring a steady state load and/or a desired load of the indoor heat exchange unit based on the heat exchange load characteristic curve; and S400 adjusting the number of operating compressors and rotational speeds of compressors, and/or adjusting the number of operating injectors and opening degrees of injectors, based on the steady state load and/or the desired load.

Embodiments include a plurality of chillers, a system controller configured to control the plurality of chillers, and one or more sensors in communication with the controller, the one or more sensors configured to generate operational data based on measured operational parameters of the plurality of chillers. Embodiments include the controller including a processor configured to obtain the operational data, calculate scores for each of the plurality of chillers based on the operational data, and rank the plurality of chillers based on the scores. The processor is further configured to sequence the plurality of chillers based at least in part on the ranking, and control operation of the plurality of chillers based on the sequencing.

A self-adaptive smart setback heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) control system includes an HVAC unit configured to deliver at least one of heated air and cooled air to a target area. A temperature sensor determines a current internal air temperature (IAT) of the target area. An HVAC controller is in signal communication with the HVAC unit and the temperature sensor. The HVAC controller selectively operates in an active mode and a setback mode. The active mode controls the HVAC unit based on a first temperature setpoint value, and the setback mode controls the HVAC unit based on a second temperature setpoint value different from the first temperature setpoint value. The HVAC controller includes an electronic temperature setback unit that is configured change the IAT during the setback mode based on an actively determined upcoming temperature recovery rate.

A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) energy management control system includes an HVAC system configured to deliver at least one of heated air and cooled air to a targeted area; and a computing server including an HVAC energy analytics engine in signal communication with the HVAC system. The HVAC energy analytics engine is configured to actively learn historical data of the HVAC system based on at least one of the heated air and the cooled air produced over a time period. The HVAC energy analytics engine determines a predicted energy consumption of the HVAC system based on the historical data, and the HVAC system operates based on the predicted energy consumption.
