A system for polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography (PS-OCT) of a sample comprises an interferometric arrangement comprising a reference arm and a sample arm, the sample arm being arranged to emit optical radiation towards the sample; a phase modulation system arranged at an input to the sample arm; and a detector arranged to detect a signal generated by interference between a reference beam from the reference arm and a sample beam from the sample arm. The phase modulation system comprises: an electro-optic modulator; a polarizer arranged at a rotation angle relative to the fast axis of the electro-optic modulator; and a signal generator for delivering a driving voltage to the electro-optic modulator; wherein the rotation angle and the driving voltage are selected such that the phase modulation system generates three mutually orthogonal polarization states.

Methods and systems for polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography

The disclosure provides a method of inhibiting proliferation of a cell, inhibiting m3C formation in a cell, inhibiting activity of Mettl8 in a cell, or activating ATM and p53 in a cell, the method comprising contacting the cell with a Mettl8 inhibitor. The disclosure also provides a composition comprising a cell with a reduced expression or activity of Mettl8. In another aspect, the disclosure provides methods of rendering a tumor cell sensitive to a cancer therapy.

Methods of inhibiting cell proliferation and METTL8 activity

A method for determining a retardance of a layer of a sample. The method includes: transmitting a first portion of a polarized light to a sample arm of an optical system and a second portion of the polarized light to a reference arm of the optical system; combining first return light returned from the sample arm and second return light from the reference arm; detecting, using a detector, the combined light along a first polarization state and a second polarization state to produce polarization data, the second polarization state being different from the first polarization state; determining, using a processor coupled to the detector, polarization states of light returning from upper and lower surfaces of a layer of the sample based on detecting the combined light; and determining, using the processor, a retardance of the layer of the sample based on the determined polarization states.

Method and apparatus for measuring depth-resolved tissue birefringence using single input state polarization sensitive optical coherence tomography

Methods are proposed to improve axial resolution in optical coherence tomography (OCT). In one aspect, the method comprises: obtaining a k-space interferogram of an OCT spectral image; uniformly reshaping the k-space interferogram to a quasi-stationary interferogram by extracting a source envelope; fitting a spectral estimation model to the quasi-stationary interferogram; and calculating an axial depth profile using the fitted spectral estimation model.
