Systems, apparatus and methods in a mobile device for determining a breach of a geofence is presented. A reference radio frequency (RF) fingerprint is obtained by the mobile device, the reference RF fingerprint defining the geofence. The reference RF fingerprint may be generated by the mobile device or received from a different mobile device. The mobile device scans for RF signals and determines a scanned RF fingerprint based on the scan for RF signals. A breach of the geofence is determined using the reference RF fingerprinting and the scanned RF fingerprint.

Geofences based on RF fingerprints

Techniques are provided that may be implemented in a mobile device to provide one or more location parameters to one or more mobile processes (e.g., applications) provided and/or otherwise supported, at least in part, by the mobile device. For example, a mobile device may be configured to monitor one or more processes hosted on a first processor, and initiate a communication on a bus connecting the first processor to a positioning engine external to the first processor to obtain at least one updated location parameter in response to detection of activity of at least one of the one or more processes. In certain instances, the updated location parameter(s) may have been previously determined by the positioning engine.

Methods and apparatuses for use in providing location parameters to mobile applications

Systems, apparatus and methods for communicating and using a geofence while maintaining privacy are presented. A geofence is based on at least one RF fingerprint. The RF fingerprints include absolute information that is transformed into a one-way matrix (A) by application of a one-way function. The absolute information may identify a transmitter (e.g., by location, address or the like). An equation=Ax (whereis a zero vector, A is the one-way matrix and x is a signature vector) is solved to reveal one possible solution for the signature vector (x). This signature vector (x) is communicated rather than the RF fingerprints themselves, thus obscuring the absolute information and maintaining privacy.

Communicating RF fingerprint-based geofences

Systems, apparatus and methods in a mobile device for creating and/or using a geofence are presented. When creating a geofence, a mobile device collects at least one RF fingerprint. Each RF fingerprint includes transmitter information from a plurality of transmitters. The transmitter information includes information identifying the transmitter (e.g., location or MAC address of the transmitter) referred to here as absolute information. The transmitter information may also include information indication a relative position of the mobile device with respect to the transmitter (e.g., RTT or RSSI) referred to here as relative information. The RF fingerprints are used to define a geofence. Granularity may further be used to define a geofence. A first mobile device creates the geofence and sends it to a second mobile device, which looks for the geofence. When using the geofence, a second mobile device may trigger an application when a breach of the geofence is detected.

A mobile computing device comprising a first application adapted to provide information to a server. The information is adapted to be shared by the server with at least one additional mobile computing device when the at least one additional mobile computing device is located within a specified range of the mobile computing device. Additionally, a password entered through a second application located on the additional mobile computing device may be required to correspond to a password received from the mobile computing device in order to share the information. Furthermore, the additional mobile computing device may be required to access the information within a specified time period.

Method, device, and system to share information between mobile computing devices

Systems, methods, and apparatuses are disclosed for presenting applications to a user, via a mobile wireless communication device (user equipment), that are selected and ranked based on context information describing a location and type of motion of the user equipment, and/or a time that the ranking request was made, compared to context information describing the applications.

The at least one wireless transmitter/receiver comprises a gps communication device and a network communication device. One embodiment of the present invention comprises a method of determining a mobile computing device location. The method may comprise emitting at least one audio signal from at least one audio signal emitter and determining a sending time of the at least one audio signal. The method further comprises receiving the at least one audio signal at the mobile computing device and determining a receiving time of the at least one audio signal. A difference between the receiving time and the sending time is calculated and this difference is used to determine a distance from the at least one audio signal emitter to the mobile computing device. The distance is then used to obtain a location of the mobile computing device.
