A method for controlling movement of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) includes controlling one or more propulsion units of the UVA to cause the UAV to operate according to a first set of altitude restrictions; assessing, with aid of the one or more processors and based on one or more criteria, whether to control the UAV to operate according to a second set of altitude restrictions; and controlling the one or more propulsion units to cause the UAV to operate according to the second set of altitude restrictions in response to the one or more criteria being fulfilled according to an assessing result. The first set of altitude restrictions constrain an altitude of the UAV relative to a first reference altitude. The second set of altitude restrictions constrain the altitude of the UAV relative to a second reference altitude.

Vehicle altitude restrictions and control

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) includes a vehicle body, one or more propulsion units coupled to the vehicle body and configured to effect movement of the UAV, and one or more processors coupled to the one or more propulsion units and individually or collectively configured to receive one or more sets of altitude restrictions for the UAV, receive location information indicating a current location of the UAV, determine a priority of the one or more sets of altitude restrictions by which the UAV abides based on the location information, select a set from the one or more sets of altitude restrictions based on the determined priority, and generate control signals to control the one or more propulsion units such that the UAV is operated in compliance with the selected set of altitude restrictions.

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) includes a vehicle body, one or more propulsion units coupled to the vehicle body, and one or more processors operably coupled to the one or more propulsion units. The one or more processors are configured to receive one or more original altitude restrictions for the UAV, receive elevation information for an area the UAV is operating in or will operate in, determine one or more modified altitude restrictions based on the one or more original altitude restrictions and the elevation information, compare the one or more modified altitude restrictions with a legal altitude restriction to determine whether the one or more modified altitude restrictions are legally compliant, and if so, control the one or more propulsion units to cause the UAV to comply with the one or more modified altitude restrictions while operating in the area.

A delivering method using an unmanned aerial vehicle includes configuring a pre-set condition, locking a cargo, acquiring verification information about a recipient, comparing the verification information with the pre-set condition, and determining that verification is passed to unlock the cargo when the verification information is consistent with the pre-set condition.

A system for automatically adjusting a baseline of an imaging system for stereoscopic imaging and methods for making and using same. The imaging system includes a plurality of imaging devices that cooperate via a baseline adjustment mechanism. The imaging devices can acquire images of an object of interest and ascertain an object distance between the stereoscopic imaging system and the object of interest using triangulation. Based on the object distance, the baseline adjustment mechanism automatically adjusts a baseline between any pair of imaging devices. The baseline can be reduced when the object of interest is proximate to the imaging system and can be increased when the object of interest is distal. Once the baseline has been adjusted, one or more extrinsic parameters of the imaging devices are calibrated using a two-step optimization method. The imaging system is suitable for use aboard a mobile platform such as an unmanned aerial vehicle.

Imaging system and method

Systems, methods, and devices are provided for providing flight response to flight-restricted altitudes. The altitude of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) may be compared with an altitude restriction. If needed a flight-response measure may be taken by the UAV to prevent the UAV from flying in a restricted altitude. The altitude measurement of the UAV and/or altitude restriction of the UAV may be modified for improved performance. Different flight-response measures may be taken depending on preference and the rules of a jurisdiction within which the UAV falls.

Systems, methods, and apparatus for adaptively zeroing out transform coefficients utilizing a bit-stealing parameter are presented herein. A partitioning component can be configured to separate an image into blocks of video data. Further, a frequency transform component can be configured to transform pixels of a block of the blocks into transform coefficients. Furthermore, a bit-stealing quantization component configured to predefine quantization intervals. Moreover, the bit-stealing quantization component can modify a size of a quantization interval of the quantization intervals based on a variable bit-stealing parameter. Further, the bit-stealing component can quantize a transform coefficient of the transform coefficients, based on the quantization interval, to a quantized coefficient value of quantized coefficient values.
