A process for preparing a coated substrate in which mist particles are created from a dilute liquid, the mist particles are contacted with a pressurized carrier gas and contacted with radio frequency energy while being heated to form a vapor, and the vapor is then deposited onto a substrate. The coated substrate is then heated to a temperature of 450 to 1,400 degrees centigrade for at least ten minutes.

The stator is formed by at least one section of superconductive material and at least one electromagnetic coil. The interior surfaces of the stator preferably define a symmetrical shape. The rotor contains at least one magnetic section, and at least two nonmagnetic sections.

Superconducting generator

An automated fruit picker with a base, a flexible arm containing two segments movably attached to each other, a cutting assembly attached to the flexible arm, and a controller for varying the angle between the arms and the height of the flexible arm. A cutting assembly is attached to one of the arm segments and contains a multiplicity of sensors for evaluating the color of the fruit to be picked, the location of the fruit, and the distance between the fruit and the cutting assembly.

Automated fruit picker

An atmospheric process for the production of a coating of film upon a nickel-containing substrate. In the first step of this process, an aerosol mist containing reactants necessary to form the coating is provided. Thereafter, the mist is subjected to radio-frequency radiation while in the plasma region. Thereafter, the vaporized mixture is then deposited onto a nickel substrate. In subsequent steps, one or more other layers of vaporized material may be deposited onto the coated substrate.

Aerosol-plasma deposition of films for electronic cells

A process for preparing an insulating powder. In the first step of this process, a solution comprising a first compound (which preferably is an yttrium compound), a barium compound, and a copper compound subjected to ultrasonic sound waves at a frequency in excess of 20,000 hertz, and to a substantially atmospheric pressure of at least about 600 millimeters of mercury to cause such solution to form into an aerosol. Thereafter, a plasma is generated within a radio-frequency plasma reactor, and the aerosol is contacted with the plasma gas within the reactor while subjecting said aerosol to a substantially atmospheric pressure of at least about 600 millimeters of mercury and to a radio frequency alternating current at a frequency of from about 100 kilohertz to about to about 30 megahertz to form a vapor, which is thereafter flowed downwardly onto and collected on a collector.

Aerosol-plasma deposition of insulating oxide powder

A process for preparing a film consisting of at least about 90 weight percent of cubic cadmium sulfide is disclosed. In one step of this process, a cadmium sulfide target with a density of at least about 3.8 grams per cubic centimeter is provided. In a separate step, there is provided a heated substrate which is at a temperature of from about 50 to about 300 degrees Centigrade. The heated substrate is disposed at a distance of from about 2 to about 10 centimeters from the target. Both the heated substrate and the target are subjected to a pressure of from about 10.sup.-4 to about 10.sup.-9 Torr. Thereafter, the cadmium sulfide target is contacted with a laser beam with a wavelength of from about 100 nanometers to about 30 microns, an energy of at least about 1.0 watt, and a beam width of less than about 5 millimeters.

A contactless shock absorber assembly containing a chamber and a piston disposed therein is disclosed. The chamber is formed by alternating sections of superconductive material and electromagnetic coils; and the interior surfaces of the chamber define a symmetrical shape. The piston contains at least two magnetic sections and at least two nonmagnetic sections.

Process for preparing ferrite films by radio-frequency generated aerosol

A process for preparing an electrical connector from a glass plug, a rigid metal shell, and at least one pin conductor is disclosed. The glass plug is made by mixing glass powder with binder, forming a green body, debindering the green body, and heating the debindered green body. The metal shell and metal pin conductor(s) are first cleaned by heating them in a hydrogen-containing atmosphere, and thereafter forming an oxide coating on their surfaces. An assembly is then formed from the rigid metal shell, the glass plug, and the pin conductor(s). This assembly is then heat treated to form the electrical connector.

Process for preparing an hermetically sealed glass-metal electrical

A process for coating a superconductive film onto a substrate is provided. In the first step of this process, a solution of the reagents required to produce the superconductive material is subjected to ultrasonic sound waves to create an aerosol. Thereafter, the aerosol is contacted with plasma while being subjected to substantially atmospheric pressure and a radio frequency alternating current in excess of 100 kilohertz; a vapor is produced in this step. The vapor so produced is passed through an orifice and allowed to deposit onto a substrate, which is in contact with a substrate holder which is electrically grounded.

Process for preparing superconducting films by radio-frequency generated

A process for moving a magnetized object at a velocity in excess of 10 kilometers per second is provided. In this process, a symmetrical chamber which contains alternating portions of superconductive material and electromagnetic coils is provided. A magnetized object is disposed within the chamber and caused to levitate there because of the Meissner effect. The magnetized object is accelerated within the chamber by supplying asynchronous direct current pulses to the coils within the chamber.

A process for coating a superconductive film onto a substrate is provided. In the first step of this process, a solution of the reagents required to produce the superconductive material is subjected to ultrasonic sound waves to create an aerosol. Thereafter, the aerosol contacted with plasma while being subjected to substantially atmospheric pressure and a radio frequency alternating current in excess of 100 kilohertz; a vapor is produced in this step. The vapor so produced is passed through an orifice and allowed to deposit onto a substrate.
