The method includes: obtaining an instruction to display genealogy information corresponding to a target virtual object; obtaining the genealogy information of the target virtual object based on the instruction, the genealogy information of the target virtual object comprising information about n virtual objects having a genetic relationship with the target virtual object, n being a positive integer; and displaying the information about the n virtual objects, the information about the n virtual objects comprising an image of a virtual object determined by genes of the virtual object based on a genetic inheritance rule.
