Methods and apparatus for fabricating high-resolution thin-layer metal patterns and 3D Metal structures are provided. The methods and apparatus operate via photo-(stereo)lithography at room temperature. The printed metal patterns, for example silver patterns, exhibit high electrical conductivity, comparable to or better than the conductivity of the silver printed by current laser sintering or thermal annealing at high temperature.

Methods for photo-induced metal printing

Tropistic materials incorporating a class of adaptively configurable materials capable of real-time detection, tracking, and processing incident stimulus are provided. Incident stimulus can comprise any energetic emission or signals, such as electromagnetic waves, acoustics waves, or magnetic fields. The materials comprise a deformable stimuli-responsive material, which can adapt configuratively to a specific stimulus, and may further comprise a plurality of absorbers or photo-sensitive molecules configured to convert external incident stimuli to the specific stimulus type toward which the deformable material is responsive.

Materials for autonomous tracking, guiding, modulating, and harvesting of energetic emissions

Highly efficient, multi-functional anti-icing compositions and methods of their use are provided. Anti-icing compositions include hydrogels configured to form thin film coatings on various surfaces via spin coating under UV irradiation. Multifunctional anti-icing platforms are based on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-grafted polyelectrolyte hydrogels. Methods for grafting hydrophobic polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) chains onto a hydrophilic polyelectrolyte network containing various counterions, forming a multifunctional hybrid anti-icing hydrogel are also provided.

Multi-functional anti-icing hydrogel materials and methods for controlling ice nucleation, growth and adhesion

A hydrogel precursor composition includes 10 wt % to 40 wt % N-isopropylacrylamide, 0.5 wt % to 2 wt % N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide, a solvent, and a photoinitiator. The hydrogel precursor composition is photocurable and thermally responsive. A thermally responsive hydrogel is formed by photopolymerizing the hydrogel precursor composition. The thermally responsive hydrogel may be used to mimic the activity of muscle fibers.

Shape morphing soft materials and assemblies including the same

A soil stabilization method of forming an admixture of at least one hydrogel precursor and urease enzyme, and contacting at least a portion of the admixture with soil, and forming a hydrogel network in-situ within at least a portion of the soil, wherein at least a portion of the hydrogel network includes in-situ precipitated calcium carbonate. In some embodiments, at least a portion of the hydrogel network is formed in-situ by polymerizing the at least one hydrogel precursor in the presence of the urease enzyme.
