A first communication device determines that a trigger frame and another frame are to be transmitted to at least a second communication device. The first communication device determines whether the second communication device announced support of aggregation of buffer status report (BSRP) trigger frames with additional frames. In response to the first communication device determining that the second communication device announced support of aggregation of BSRP trigger frames with additional frames, the first communication device generates an aggregate media access control protocol data unit (A-MPDU) to include the BSRP trigger frame and the other frame, and transmits the A-MPDU within a packet. In response to the first communication device determining that the second communication device did not announce support of aggregation of BSRP trigger frames with additional frames, the first communication device transmits a packet having only the BSRP trigger frame.

Aggregation of frames for transmission in a wireless communication network

Embodiments of a method and an apparatus for wireless communications are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method for wireless communications involves encoding bits in a first preamble portion of a packet that are defined on a per-channel basis and that are repeated across multiple frequency blocks of a bandwidth, encoding bits in a second preamble portion of the packet that are defined on the per-channel basis and that are repeated within at least one frequency block of the bandwidth, encoding bits in a third preamble portion of the packet that are defined on a two-channel basis and that are repeated within at least one frequency block of the bandwidth, padding the third preamble portion of the packet to have a same length for each of the frequency blocks, and transmitting the packet.

Method and apparatus for communications

A communication device selects a frequency bandwidth via which a physical layer (PHY) protocol data unit (PPDU) will be transmitted in a vehicular communication network, and generates, the PPDU i) according to a downclocking ratio of 1/2, and ii) based on an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) numerology defined by an IEEE 802.11ac Standard. In response to the selected frequency bandwidth being 10 MHz, the PPDU is generated according to the downclocking ratio of 1/2 and based on the OFDM numerology defined by the IEEE 802.11ac Standard for 20 MHz PPDUs. In response to the selected frequency bandwidth being 20 MHz, the PPDU is generated according to the downclocking ratio of 1/2 and based on the OFDM numerology defined by the IEEE 802.11ac Standard for 40 MHz PPDUs.

Various embodiments relate to a method for estimating a breathing rate, including: receiving a plurality of channel state information (CSI) from a wireless device; selecting an initial reference CSI from the plurality of CSI; computing a perturbation index using the initial reference CSI and a portion of the plurality of CSI; determining an optimal reference CSI based upon the perturbation index; re-computing the perturbation index using the optimal reference CSI on a portion of the plurality of CSI subsequent to the optimal reference CSI; and determining a breathing rate from the perturbation index using a frequency analysis of the perturbation index.

Embodiments of a method and an apparatus for wireless communications are disclosed. A method for grouping a plurality of client stations in a wireless local area network is disclosed herein. An access point (AP) determines the channel correlation and a distance to the AP for each of the client stations. Some embodiments described herein provide a method for transmitting a preamble in accordance with a wireless local area network communication protocol. In some embodiments, a data frame may be obtained for transmission including a preamble compliant with the wireless local area network communication protocol. It may be determined that the preamble includes a first preamble portion that spans multiple symbol durations and a second preamble portion that spans a single symbol duration. The first preamble portion via beamforming may be transmitted based on a first beamforming matrix. When a transmission mode of the second preamble portion is beamforming, a second beamforming matrix may be generated based on the first beamforming matrix, each tone for the second preamble portion may be calculated based on the second beamforming matrix. Each calculated tone may be transmitted in accordance with the wireless local area network communication protocol.

Systems and methods for transmitting a preamble within a wireless local area network (WLAN)

A communication device stores a master rate table, which comprises a plurality of rows that correspond to i) respective data rates, and ii) respective sets of communication parameter values corresponding to the respective sets of data rates. Each set of communication parameter values includes i) a default value of a parameter, and iii) one or more alternative values of the parameter. When the communication device determines that a new transmission rate should be used, and when a current set of communication parameter values corresponds to a row in the master rate table and includes the default value, the communication device selects a trial set of communication parameter values corresponding to the row of the master rate table, and including one of the alternative values. The communication device measures an error rate measure corresponding to use of the trial set of communication parameter values.

A method for allocating a plurality of resource units among a plurality of client stations in a wireless local area network is disclosed herein. An access point (AP) estimates a channel quality indicator for each of the respective channels between the AP and the plurality of client stations, obtains queue information corresponding to each of the plurality of client stations, and computes a utility function for each of the plurality of client stations based on the channel quality indicator and the obtained queue information. The AP then allocates each resource unit to a client station of the plurality of client stations having a highest value output by the respective utility function.

Systems and methods for rate selection and resource unit allocation within a wireless local area network (WLAN)

In a wireless communication network that operates according to a communication protocol that permits transmissions via multiple channels corresponding to multiple different frequency bandwidths, a communication device receives a packet via a first communication channel that spans a first frequency bandwidth. The communication device determines a second communication channel for transmitting an acknowledgment packet, the second communication channel spanning a second frequency bandwidth that is less than the first frequency bandwidth, the acknowledgment packet responsive to receiving the packet. The communication device transmits the acknowledgment packet via the second communication channel.
