A hollow-core antiresonant fiber (HC-ARF) with nested supporting rings (NSRs) has a fiber structure that includes from the inside out a fiber core, a first silica antiresonant ring (SARR), a first air antiresonant ring (AARR), a second SARR, a second AARR and an external silica wall. The fiber structure further includes a first NSR within the first AARR and a second NSR within the second AARR. The HC-ARF with NSRs has advantages and benefits of low confined loss (CL), large bandwidth, simple structure and very good bending characteristics. Therefore, the application fields of HC-ARF are greatly expanded.

Hollow-core antiresonant fiber with nested supporting rings and its design method

The nondestructive determination of core size of a hollow-core photonic bandgap fiber (HC-PBF) using Fabry-Perot (FP) interference is performed with an apparatus including a tunable laser source (TLS), a 1&#xd7;2 single-mode (SM) coupler, an SM collimator, a six-axis translation stage, an optical detector, and an oscilloscope. The light from the TLS passes through the 1&#xd7;2 SM coupler and the SM collimator to perpendicularly enter two parallel air-SiOinterfaces of the core of the fiber and is reflected, while the TLS is tuned from one wavelength to another. Then the reflected spectrum is guided to the optical detector, where its interference intensity is converted into voltage intensity to be displayed at the oscillator and fitted with a least-squares method to obtain the distance between the two air-SiOinterfaces. The core size of the fiber can be obtained by rotating the fiber and repeating the procedure at multiple angular positions.

Method and apparatus for nondestructive determination of core size of hollow-core photonic bandgap fiber using Fabry-Perot interference

A potassium fluoroboratoberyllate crystal oblique-incidence laser frequency multiplier, comprising: a flake-like potassium fluoroboratoberyllate crystal having parallel front and back polished surfaces; a front antireflection film and a back antireflection film; a columnar crystal support provided with a square holding slot and a light through-hole; and external heating jackets; the crystal is disposed in the square holding slot, the front and back surfaces of the crystal conforming to a main surface of the square holding slot, a normal of the main surface of the holding slot forming an angle &#x3b8; with the central axis of the crystal support; a laser at a fundamental frequency passes through the front antireflection film, and a frequency-multiplied laser generated in the crystal is transmitted out through the back antireflection film. The present invention has a simple structure and a low cost, and is suitable for medium- and high-power laser systems.

Potassium fluoroboratoberyllate crystal oblique-incidence laser second harmonic generator

The present invention relates to a KBBF family nonlinear optical crystal-prism coupler and its method of fabrication. The coupler comprises: a KBBF family crystal with two smooth surfaces; transition layers each of which is deposited on respective one of the two smooth surfaces of the KBBF family crystal; and a pair of prisms each of which optically contacts with respective one of the activated transition layers. The present invention further provides a KBBF family nonlinear optical crystal-prism coupler that comprises: a KBBF family crystal with two smooth surfaces; a pair of prisms each of which has a smooth surfaces; first transition layers each of which is deposited on respective one of the two smooth surfaces of the KBBF family crystal; and second transition layers each of which is deposited on a smooth surface of respective one of the pair of prisms, wherein the first and second transition layers are integral by optical contact. The coupling between the KBBF family crystal and the prisms is achieved by optical contact through transition layers to improve bonding strength.
