A system, computer program product, and method for computing a correlation matrix with respect to massive of time-series is described where a threshold &#x3b5; is specified. The correlations greater than &#x3b5; do not need to be computed. A distance tree is constructed and used. The distance tree organizes the time-series by their correlation estimations. The correlation similarity is computed with MapReduce function by taking advantage of the distance tree. In an efficient MapReduce manner, there is a small I/O waste for overlapped partition. The load is balanced for uneven data distribution and there is early pruning for unnecessary computation. There is no reliance on dimensional reduction and no reliance on coordinates.

The present invention is a common location-based service adapter interface. The common location-based service adapter interface can include a uniform input interface through which location-based services can be requested using a uniform format which is independent of any specific formatting required by a particular service adapter configured to process the location-based services. An apparatus for providing responses to requests of an off-line client, comprising: a local request-response storage which stores a plurality of requests and a plurality of responses; a network traffic redirector, for redirecting requests of the client to the client machine itself by modifying the system configuration of the client machine when the client is off-line, and for redirecting requests of the client to the network connection by resuming the system configuration of the client machine when the client leaves the off-line state and enters an on-line state; and a local off-line server, for receiving a request of the client redirected to the client machine itself, for generating a response based on the request, the plurality of requests and the plurality of responses stored in the request-response storage, and for returning the response to the client.
