An information handling system includes a memory device and a BIOS. The BIOS executes a plurality of processes to boot the information handling system. Each process has a unique identifier (ID). When the BIOS executes a first process, the BIOS calculates a first hash value of a first ID of the first process and stores the first hash value to the memory device. Each time the BIOS executes a second process, the BIOS calculates a second hash value of the path hash value and a second ID of the second process and stores the second hash value to the memory device. After the boot of the information handling system is completed, the path hash value identifies a boot path of the processes for the boot of the information handling system. The BIOS further determines whether the boot path is a secure boot path based upon the path hash value.

Utilizing a hash of a boot path as indication of a secure boot flow

An information handling system includes a memory device and a BIOS. The memory device includes a location to store a path hash value. The BIOS executes a plurality of processes to boot the information handling system. Each process has a unique identifier (ID). When the BIOS executes a first process, the BIOS calculates a first hash value of a first ID of the first process and stores the first hash value in the location. Each time the BIOS executes a second process, the BIOS calculates a second hash value of the path hash value and a second ID of the second process and stores the second hash value in the location.

An information handling system may include a processor and a read-only memory communicatively coupled to the processor and comprising a basic input/output system (BIOS)-accessible region of the read-only memory including a first subregion communicatively coupled to the processor via a first communications interface and a second subregion communicatively coupled to the processor via a second communications interface. The information handling system may also include the BIOS, configured to responsive to a read request from the processor to the BIOS-accessible region determine whether a memory address associated with the read request is within a decoding range of the first subregion, cause the processor to access the first subregion via the first communications interface if the memory address is within the decoding range, and cause the processor to access the second subregion via the second communications interface if the memory address is outside the decoding range.

Systems and methods for supporting BIOS accessibility to traditionally nonaddressable read-only memory space

A method includes parsing basic input/output system (BIOS) information to collect configuration attributes defining configurable features at an information handling system. A configuration attribute file is generated that includes the configuration attributes. The configuration attribute file is stored at a BIOS non-volatile random-access memory (NVRAM) at the information handling system and is accessible during initialization of the information handling system by BIOS instructions.

Systems and methods for initializing and reconfiguring replacement motherboards are described. In some embodiments, an Information Handling System (IHS) may include: a motherboard, a processor mounted on the motherboard, and a Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) mounted on the motherboard and coupled to the processor, the BIOS having program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by the processor, cause the IHS to: determine, while operating in a service mode, whether prefill data is available in a memory device distinct from any component mounted on the motherboard, where the prefill data is usable by the BIOS to automatically fill out at least a portion of a service menu provided by the BIOS; validate the prefill data; and in response to the validated, prefill data having changed since a previous booting of the IHS, store updated prefill data in the memory device.
