Example diffractive optical elements and terminal devices are disclosed. One example diffractive optical element includes grating components periodically distributed in a first dimension. The grating component includes N optical waveguides. The N optical waveguides include M optical waveguides that periodically change in a second dimension. At least two of the M optical waveguides that periodically change in the second dimension have different structures. An included angle between the second dimension and the first dimension is greater than 0 degrees and less than 180 degrees. N is an integer greater than 1. M is an integer greater than 1 and not greater than N.

Diffractive optical element and terminal device

An optical waveguide component, a preparation method therefor, and an electro-optic modulator are disclosed. The optical waveguide component includes an insulating substrate, a waveguide core, at least two electrodes, and a cladding layer. The at least two electrodes and the waveguide core are all disposed on the insulating substrate, the at least two electrodes are distributed on two sides of the waveguide core, and the cladding layer covers at least a part of an outer wall of the waveguide core. The waveguide core includes an electro-optic material having an electro-optic effect. A refractive index of the insulating substrate is less than a refractive index of the waveguide core. A refractive index of the cladding layer is greater than the refractive index of the waveguide core.

Optical waveguide component, preparation method therefor, and electro-optic modulator

Example wavelength tunable lasers are described. One example wavelength tunable laser includes a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier, three couplers, and at least two microring resonators. The reflective semiconductor optical amplifier is connected to one port of the first coupler. Some of the at least two microring resonators are arranged between another port of the first coupler and one port of the second coupler, the others of the at least two microring resonators are arranged between a third port of the first coupler and a second port of the second coupler, and a third port and a fourth port of the second coupler are connected to two ports of the third coupler.

Wavelength tunable laser

A polymer waveguide and an electrical signal transmission method are disclosed. In a specific implementation, the polymer waveguide includes at least a section of transmission waveguide and a section of dispersion compensation waveguide. The transmission waveguide is connected to the dispersion compensation waveguide. Dispersion symbols of the dispersion compensation waveguide and the transmission waveguide are opposite.

Polymer waveguide and electrical signal transmission method

An optical frequency comb light source and an optical frequency comb generation method, where the light source includes a laser diode, a coupler, a Kerr nonlinear device, a beam splitter, and a phase shifter. The laser diode is connected to one input port of the coupler, and the other input port of the coupler is connected to an output port of the phase shifter. An output port of the coupler is connected to an input port of the Kerr nonlinear device. An output port of the Kerr nonlinear device is connected to an input port of the beam splitter. This application provides example signal processing apparatus and example signal processing method. One example signal processing apparatus includes a sampling unit, a beam combiner, and an optical resonator. The sampling unit is connected to the beam combiner, and the beam combiner is connected to the optical resonator. The sampling unit is configured to sample an analog signal by using an optical pulse signal to output a sampled optical pulse signal. The beam combiner is configured to combine the sampled optical pulse signal and a multi-wavelength optical signal into a first optical signal. The optical resonator is configured to perform resonance based on the first optical signal to output a second optical signal in the first optical signal, where a wavelength of the second optical signal is equal to a resonant wavelength of the optical resonator.

A polarization processing optical device includes a polarization beam splitter (PBS), a polarization rotator (PR), a coupler, and a phase tuner (PT), where one port of the PBS is configured to input a continuous light source, and the other two ports of the PBS are respectively connected to the PR and one port of the coupler, the PR is connected to another port of the coupler, the PT is disposed on a connection between the PBS and the coupler or a connection between the PR and the coupler, at least one port of the coupler is configured to output single-polarization light, and the PT is configured to control output optical power of the coupler.

An optical module structure includes a substrate, an optical chip and an electrical chip that are fixedly coupled to the substrate. The optical module structure further includes an optical coupling structure fixedly coupled to the optical chip. A side of the optical chip that faces the substrate has a first reference plane, and at least one first alignment mark is provided on the first reference plane. The optical coupling structure has a second reference plane, and at least one second alignment mark is provided on the second reference plane. The first reference plane is aligned with the second reference plane, and the first alignment mark is aligned with the second alignment mark.

Optical module structure and fabrication method for optical module structure

An electro-optic modulator includes an input waveguide, a beam splitter connected to the input waveguide, a modulation arm that is disposed on each branch of the beam splitter and modulates a signal. Each modulation arm is correspondingly disposed with a first layer electrode and a second layer electrode. The first layer electrode is a high-frequency traveling wave electrode and is configured to change carrier concentration in the modulation arm, the second layer electrode is a direct current electrode having an inductor function, and an inductor formed in the second layer electrode is connected to the first layer electrode. The electro-optic modulator has functions of a bias tee, so that integration of the electro-optic modulator can be improved without affecting its performance. High-density packaging layout difficulty and cabling pressure can be effectively reduced, and cabling and packaging of a multi-channel high-speed signal on a base board can be implemented.

An optical coupling apparatus and method are described. An embodiment of an optical coupling apparatus may include a first optical chip, a second optical chip, and an optical writing waveguide block. In the apparatus, the first optical chip is coupled to the optical writing waveguide block in a first coupling manner, and the second optical chip is coupled to the optical writing waveguide block in a second coupling manner. Furthermore, in the apparatus, the first optical chip is optically interconnected to the second optical chip by using the optical writing waveguide block. Compatibility between a plurality of coupling manners is therefore enabled by using the technical solutions described herein.

Optical coupling apparatus and method

An optical transceiver and a network device are provided. The optical transceiver includes a common end module and two data submodules. The common end module includes a multi-carrier light source, a wavelength division multiplexer, a wavelength division demultiplexer, an external optical interface, and two first beam splitters. Each data submodule includes a second beam splitter, an optical/electrical signal modulator, and an optical receiver. According to the optical transceiver and the network device, a high-capacity optical transceiver with a single optical interface can be implemented, so that optical interface management complexity is reduced, and a fiber resource is reduced.
