A personal care composition is disclosed comprising a blend of silicone elastomer and solvent and a cosmetically acceptable carrier, wherein the solvent is a volatile silicone oil selected from octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, decamethylcyclopentasiloxane, dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane, blends of methyl trimethicone and dimethicone and mixtures thereof and wherein the silicone elastomer has the chemical structure of formula I. The composition may additionally optionally comprise an organic sunscreen. A method for providing skin care benefit, in particular photoprotection, comprises topically applying the composition to the skin.

Personal care composition

The invention relates to a personal care cream composition, more particularly to a photo-protective composition that maintains its sensory properties while ensuring high sun-protection efficacy. The present inventors have herein determined that inclusion of hydrophobic polymer particles of a specified particle size range enables certain cream compositions to not only provide the sunscreen benefits but also deliver the excellent watery sensation the consumers have come to expect from such compositions.

Stable personal care cream composition

A cosmetic composition is disclosed comprising particle active and cosmetically acceptable carrier comprising hydrophobic material, wherein the hydrophobic material comprises less than 15% liquid oil by weight of the composition. The particle active comprises (i) water-insoluble shell component comprising inorganic material and having a refractive index of from 1.3 to 1.8; and (ii) core component comprising volatile liquid and having a refractive index of at least 1.2.

Cosmetic composition with increased opacity

A cosmetic composition is disclosed comprising particle active; opacifying particles having a refractive index of at least 1.7 and cosmetically acceptable carrier. The particle active comprises (i) water-insoluble shell component comprising inorganic material and having a refractive index of from 1.3 to 1.8; and (ii) core component comprising volatile liquid and having a refractive index of at least 1.2.
