An oxidation catalyst composite, methods, and systems for the treatment of exhaust gas emissions from a diesel engine are described. More particularly, described is an oxidation catalyst composite including a first oxidation component comprising a first refractory metal oxide support, palladium (Pd) and platinum (Pt); a NOstorage component comprising one or more of alumina, silica, titania, ceria, or manganese; and a second oxidation component comprising a second refractory metal oxide, a zeolite, and Pt. The oxidation catalyst composite is sulfur tolerant, adsorbs NOand thermally releases the stored NOat temperature less than 350° C.

Diesel oxidation catalyst

A nitrous oxide (NO) removal catalyst composite is provided, comprising a NO removal catalytic material on a substrate, the catalytic material comprising a rhodium (Rh) component supported on a ceria-based support, wherein the catalyst composite has a H-consumption peak of about 100&#xb0; C. or less as measured by hydrogen temperature-programmed reduction (H-TPR). Methods of making and using the same are also provided.

Nitrous oxide removal catalysts for exhaust systems

The present disclosure provides SCR catalyst compositions, catalyst articles, and catalyst systems, as well as methods of reducing the amount of NOx present in an engine exhaust gas, particularly exhaust from a gasoline engine. The catalyst compositions particularly can comprise a doped ceria substrate, particularly a ceria support doped with at least a niobia component, and optionally further doped with a further material, particularly a base metal oxide (BMO).

Catalytic composites comprising Nb2O5/CeO2 SCR component

Described are catalysts effective to abate NO, hydrocarbons, and carbon monoxide from a gasoline engine exhaust gas. Such catalysts include a substrate having a first and second material disposed thereon, the first material effective to catalyze selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides in the presence of ammonia and the second material effective to abate hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide, the first material comprising a molecular sieve promoted with copper and/or iron in a low loading, the second material comprising at least one oxide of Ni, Fe, Mn, Co, and Cu on a support selected from oxides of Ce, Ce&#x2014;Zr, Zr, Mn, Pr and combinations thereof. Also described are gasoline engine exhaust gas treatment systems and methods of treating exhaust gas from a gasoline engine.

Exhaust gas treatment catalysts

Composites of mixed metal oxides for an exhaust gas purifying catalyst comprise the following co-precipitated materials by weight of the composite: zirconia in an amount in the range of 55-99%; titania in an amount in the range of 1-25%; a promoter and/or a stabilizer in an amount in the range of 0-20%. These composites are effective as supports for platinum group metals (PGMs), in particular rhodium.

An oxidation catalyst composite, methods, and systems for the treatment of exhaust gas emissions from a diesel engine are described. A nitrous oxide (NO) removal catalyst composite is described, which includes: a NO removal catalytic material on a carrier, wherein the catalytic material comprises a platinum group metal (PGM) component on a ceria-containing support having a single phase, cubic fluorite crystal structure. The catalytic material is effective to decompose nitrous oxide (NO) to nitrogen (N) and oxygen (O) and/or to reduce NO to Nand water (HO) and/or (CO) under conditions of an exhaust stream of an internal combustion engine operating under conditions that are stoichiometric or lean with periodic rich transient excursions. Methods of making and using the same are also provided.

Provided are emissions treatment systems for an exhaust stream having an ammonia-generating component, such as a NOx storage reduction (NSR) catalyst or a lean NOx trap (LNT) catalyst, and an SCR catalyst disposed downstream of the ammonia-generating catalyst. The SCR catalyst can be a molecular sieve having the CHA crystal structure, for example SSZ-13 or SAPO-34, which can be ion-exchanged with copper. The LNT can be layered, having an undercoat washcoat layer comprising a support material, at least one precious metal, and at least one NOx sorbent selected from the group consisting of alkaline earth elements, rare earth elements, and combinations thereof and a top washcoat layer comprising a support material, at least one precious metal, and ceria in particulate form, the top washcoat layer being substantially free of alkaline earth components. The emissions treatment system is advantageously used for the treatment of exhaust streams from diesel engines and lean burn gasoline engines.

Emissions treatment system with ammonia-generating and SCR catalysts

An emissions treatment system for an exhaust stream of an internal combustion engine including hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxides is provided. The disclosed system can include an exhaust conduit in fluid communication with the internal combustion engine via an exhaust manifold; a first three-way conversion catalyst (TWC-1) located downstream of the internal combustion engine in the exhaust conduit; an SCR-HCT catalyst comprising a selective catalytic reduction catalyst and a hydrocarbon trap downstream of the TWC-1 in the exhaust conduit; and a third catalyst downstream of the SCR-HCT combination in the exhaust conduit, the third catalyst comprising a platinum group metal (PGM) e.g., in an amount effective to oxidize hydrocarbons. Methods of making and using such systems and components thereof are also provided.

Emissions treatment systems with TWC catalysts and SCR-HCT catalysts

A diesel oxidation catalyst for the treatment of exhaust gas emissions, such as the oxidation of unburned hydrocarbons (HC), and carbon monoxide (CO) and the reduction of nitrogen oxides (NOx) is described. More particularly, the present invention is directed to a washcoat composition comprising high silica to alumina zeolite and platinum and palladium such that the zeolite minimizes negative interactions of these platinum group metals with the zeolite.

Pt-Pd diesel oxidation catalyst with CO/HC light-off and HC storage function

The present invention is directed to a lean NOx trap diesel oxidation catalyst for the treatment of exhaust gas emissions, such as the oxidation of unburned hydrocarbons (HC), and carbon monoxide (CO) and the trapping and reduction of nitrogen oxides (NOx). Catalytic composites can comprise a catalytic material on a carrier, the catalytic material comprising a first NOx trap layer that comprises a NOx sorbent and one or more precious metal components located on the carrier and a second NOx trap layer containing hydrocarbon trapping functionality located over the first NOx trap layer that comprises a NOx sorbent, one or more precious metal components, and a zeolite, for example a beta zeolite, wherein the zeolite is substantially free of framework aluminum. Such zeolites are characterized by high crystallinity and/or by being substantially free of framework aluminum to minimize surface acidity.
