An anti-static fuel additive composition and method for using the composition to reduce or prevent buildup of electrostatic charge is described. The anti-static fuel additive composition comprises a polysulfone and a copolymer derived from reaction of an alkanolamine and a hydrocarbyl-substituted 4-membered to 7-memebered ring anhydride; for example, a hydrocarbyl-substituted succinic anhydride, a hydrocarbyl-substituted maleic anhydride, a hydrocarbyl-substituted phthalic anhydride, or a combination thereof.

Antistatic fuel additives

A polymer composition has been developed that provides low viscosity oil-in-water polymer emulsions that release the polymer in the emulsion at a faster rate and without an additional surfactant when the emulsion is added to a hydrocarbon stream. Use of a temperature-sensitive emulsifying surfactant facilitates inversion of the oil-in-water polymer emulsion when applied to a hydrocarbon composition at a temperature sufficiently high to destabilize the emulsion. These compositions are particularly useful as drag reducers for delivery to a subsea flowline via an umbilical line.

Disclosed herein are water-soluble polymers comprising hydrolyzable cross-linked monomer units, and methods for recovering hydrocarbon fluids from a subterranean formation using the water-soluble polymers.

Mobility control polymers for enhanced oil recovery

Disclosed are cloud point depressants and methods of making and using them. The disclosed cloud point depressants comprise copolymers of an unsaturated anhydride polymerized with alkyl &#x3b1;-olefins and then contacted with a phenyl alkyl alcohol or alkyl phenol alkoxylate, fatty alcohol and primary or secondary fatty amine to provide a cloud depressant reaction product. When the disclosed reaction products are added to middle distillate fuels or blends of middle distillate fuels with biodiesel, the cloud point depressants inhibit the precipitation of waxes and/or biowaxes in the fuels and the fuels exhibit reduced precipitation, gelling, and/or crystallization when subjected to low or cold temperatures.

Emulsions of mobility control polymers can be used to increase recovery of crude oil from a subterranean hydrocarbon-containing formation. A flooding fluid comprising the polymer emulsions are injected into a well that is in contact with the subterranean hydrocarbon-containing formation. The polymers can be temporarily cross-linked and have protected shear degradation and improved injectivity into the well; the shear resistance can be measured in terms of viscosity loss due to shear, and the improved injectivity can be measured in terms of the flooding fluid's filter ratio, flow rate, and viscosity.

An acrylamide-based polymer which contains one or more multiquaternized ('multiquat') monomer unit(s) is provided. The acrylamide-based polymer can be used in a papermaking process to reduce pitch and stickies deposition, improve retention and drainage, and enhance dry strength properties of paper. Also included is a method of controlling pitch and stickies deposition in papermaking comprising treating pulp slurry with an acrylamide-based polymer which contains one or more multiquaternized ('multiquat') monomer unit(s).

In the mining process, linear, branched, hyperbranched or dendrimeric polyols or mixtures thereof are employed as process stabilization aids for aqueous solutions and, or suspensions of metal salts. A specific application area of the polyols is the stabilization of bauxite liquor in the Bayer process of producing alumina from bauxite.
