This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support backscatter-based positioning. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes transmitting a configuration signal that indicates a tag address of a tag device and a modulation scheme for generation of a backscatter signal. The method also includes transmitting a positioning reference signal (PRS) after transmission of the configuration signal. The method further includes receiving, from the tag device, a backscatter signal based on the modulation scheme and the PRS. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Backscatter-based positioning

A method for wireless communication by a first sidelink user equipment (UE) includes suppressing one or more signal peaks associated with a sidelink message based on a configuration for suppressing the one or more signal peaks associated with the sidelink message. The method also includes selectively transmitting, to a second sidelink UE, a peak information suppression message (PSIM) indicating the one or more suppressed signal peaks and/or one or more filled signal values based on suppressing the one or more signal peaks. The method further includes transmitting the sidelink message, to the second sidelink UE, based on suppressing the one or more signal peaks.

Certain aspects are directed to an assisting node (AN) for wireless communications. The assisting node may operate as a relay or repeater (e.g., smart repeater), and may be configured to decode control signals it receives from a network node. The control signals may provide the AN with scheduling and resource allocations, and/or instruct the AN to use particular capabilities in its communications. The AN may include a memory and one or more processors configured to receive, from a network node, an energy transfer configuration providing the AN with a resource allocation for transmission of an information signal to the network node, the information signal comprising an indication of a backscatter signal received from a passive node. The AN may also be configured to transmit, based on the resource allocation, the information signal to the network node.

Assisting node (AN) for wireless energy transfer

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Described techniques provide for signaling for configuring energy scheduling requests or communications scheduling requests from a semi-passive user equipment (UE) to the network. A semi-passive UE may transmit a message indicating a UE class type to a serving network entity (e.g., indicating that the UE is a semi-passive UE). The network entity may transmit control signaling indicating a configuration for the UE to transmit energy scheduling requests or communications scheduling requests. The UE may transmit an energy scheduling request or communications scheduling request in accordance with the configuration. In response to an energy scheduling request, the network entity may indicate a resource for an energy transfer signal, and the UE may monitor for and receive an energy transfer signal in the indicated resource. In response to a communications scheduling request, the network entity may indicate a resource for a data transmission.

Device triggering backscatter communications

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless communications systems, a first wireless device, such as an energy harvesting device, may receive, from a second wireless device, such as an energy transmitting device, parameters associated with backscattering a positioning signal, the parameters including an identifier associated with the first wireless device and an indication of a time offset associated with transmission of a backscattered positioning signal. The first wireless device may receive the positioning signal based on the identifier and transmit the backscattered positioning signal based on applying a backscattering function to the positioning signal in accordance with the offset. The second wireless device may calculate a position of the first wireless device based on a time of reception of the backscattered positioning signal and the time offset.

Techniques for enabling backscatter-based positioning measurements

Disclosed are systems and techniques for wireless communications. In one example, a method for wireless communications performed at a user equipment (UE) can include receiving one or more sidelink communications including a plurality of data packets. In some aspects, the method can include determining a respective priority level associated with each data packet of the plurality of data packets. In some examples, the method can include transmitting at least one Physical Sidelink Feedback Channel (PSFCH) message using a PSFCH format, the PSFCH format including a plurality of Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) responses corresponding to at least a portion of the plurality of data packets, wherein the portion of the plurality of data packets are arranged based on the respective priority level associated with each data packet of the plurality of data packets.

Feedback prioritization for sidelink communications

Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support backscatter-based positioning. A method of wireless communication includes receiving a tag device indicator that indicates a tag capability of a tag device. The method also includes generating a tag configuration associated with transmission of a backscatter signal based on a positioning reference signal (PRS). The tag configuration indicates a frequency shifting parameter based on a frequency shifting capability of a tag device, a phase scrambling parameter based on a phase scrambling capability of the tag device, or a combination thereof. The method further includes transmitting the tag configuration.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first device may identify first sidelink communication timing of a first UE and a second sidelink communication timing of a second UE. The first UE and the second UE may be in communication with the first device. The first device may determine a sidelink timing offset to be used by the first device in repeating a sidelink message between the first UE and the second UE. The first device may determine the sidelink timing offset based at on the first sidelink communication timing and the second sidelink communication timing. The first device may repeat the sidelink message between the first UE and the second UE in accordance with the sidelink timing offset.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. For instance, a first wireless device may transmit, to a second wireless device, a first signal for probing an energy state of the second wireless device. The first wireless device may monitor for a second, backscattered signal indicating the energy state of the second wireless device and may transmit, to the second wireless device, an indication of resources for harvesting energy based on monitoring for the second, backscattered signal. The first wireless device may transmit, to the second wireless device and over the resources, a third signal distinct from the first signal and associated with harvesting energy.

Energy-state feedback for efficient wireless power transfer to IoT devices

Disclosed are Techniques for wireless communication are provided. In an aspect, a radio frequency identification (RFID) device receives, from an RFID tag, a first backscattered signal, receives, from the RFID tag, a second backscattered signal having a known time offset relative to the first backscattered signal, and performs interference cancellation on the first backscattered signal based on the second backscattered signal.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) are described. A UE may receive control signaling including an indication of time and frequency resources that are configured for semiautonomous uplink scheduling from the UE. The UE may then transmit a semiautonomous uplink scheduling message including a request for a set of uplink transmission resources or parameters for an upcoming uplink transmission. The UE may determine the set of uplink transmission resources or parameters based on one or more interference measurements performed on the time and frequency resources that are configured for semiautonomous uplink scheduling from the UE. The UE may then receive, in response to transmitting the semiautonomous uplink scheduling message, a message approving or declining the request for the set of uplink transmission resources or parameters.

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network node, scheduling information that indicates resource allocations for transmitting multiple sidelink transport blocks (TBs) and one or more receiving UEs associated with the multiple sidelink TBs. The UE may transmit one or more sidelink TBs of the multiple sidelink TBs based at least in part on the resource allocations and the one or more receiving UEs indicated in the scheduling information. Multi-transport block sidelink scheduling

Aspects presented herein may enable an entity that is receiving (or reading) reflected/backscattered signals from an IoT device to differentiate the reflected/backscattered signals from other reflections (e.g., noise or signals bounced from other objects). In one aspect, a wireless device transmits an indication of a positioning session to an IoT device, wherein the indication initiates the positioning session for the IoT device. The wireless device transmits, based on the positioning session, a set of PRSs to the IoT device via a plurality of transmission occasions. The wireless device receives, from the IoT device based on a reflection pattern, at least one PRS in the set of PRSs via at least one reception occasion.

Positioning of passive internet of things (IOT) devices

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some examples, a user equipment (UE) may transmit to a network entity a first signal requesting a modification of allocated resources for sidelink transmission, sidelink reception, or both based on multiple transport blocks (TBs) for communication for the UE. The UE may receive, from the network entity, a downlink control information (DCI) signal granting one or more resources to the UE for sidelink communications based on the first signal. In some cases, the DCI signal may dynamically or periodically grant one or more resources for sidelink transmission, one or more resources for sidelink reception, or both for the UE. The UE may use the granted resources to communicate multiple TBs with one or more other UEs based on the DCI signal. For example, a single DCI message may allocate resources for sidelink communication of multiple TBs.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network node, scheduling information scheduling one or more communications. The one or more communications may be scheduled over one or more of a sidelink, an uplink, or a downlink.
