Methods and apparatuses control electrical current supplied to a plurality of processing units in a multi-processor system. A plurality of current usage information corresponding to the processing units are received by a controller to determine a threshold current for each of the processing units. The controller determines a frequency reduction action and an instructions-per-cycle (IPC) reduction action for the each of the processing units based on the threshold current and regulates operations of the processing units based on the determined frequency and IPC reduction actions.

System and method for controlling electrical current supply in a multi-processor core system via instruction per cycle reduction

A technique for adjusting a power supply for a device is provided. The technique includes detecting a low-power trigger for a device; switching a power supply for the device from a high-power power supply to a low-power power supply; detecting a high-power trigger for a device; and switching a power supply for the device from the low-power power supply to the high-power power supply, wherein the high-power power supply consumes a larger amount of power than the low-power power supply, and wherein the high-power power supply provides a greater amount of noise reducing and a greater tolerance to temperature differences than the low-power power supply.

An electronic device has a memory functional block that includes memory circuits and a memory physical layer (PHY) functional block with core logic that controls operations in the memory functional block, a memory PHY voltage regulator, a system voltage regulator, and a controller. The electronic device also includes a switch having an input coupled to an output of the memory PHY voltage regulator, another input coupled to an output of the system voltage regulator, and an output coupled to a power supply input of the core logic. The controller sets the switch so that electrical power is provided from the memory PHY voltage regulator to the core logic in a full power operating state. The controller sets the switch so that electrical power is provided from the system voltage regulator to the core logic in one or more low power operating states.

A computer processing device transitions among a plurality of power management states and at least one power management sub-state. From a first state, it is determined whether an entry condition for a third state is satisfied. If the entry condition for the third state is satisfied, the third state is entered. If the entry condition for the first sub-state is determined to be satisfied, the first sub-state is entered, a first sub-state residency timer is started, and after expiry of the first sub-state residency timer, the first sub-state is exited, the first state is re-entered, and it is re-determined whether the entry condition for the third state is satisfied.

Systems, apparatuses, and methods for aligning active and idle phases of components in a computing system are disclosed. A computing system includes components that can be forced into an active or idle phase and components that cannot be forced into an active or idle phase. The system implements schemes for aligning the active and idle phases of the components within the system. For example, a timer starts counting when a processor and memory subsystem go from a low power state to an operational state. If the amount of time spent by the processor and memory subsystems in the operational state without transitioning to the low power state exceeds a threshold, the system forces active-to-idle and idle-to-active phase transitions of components in the system in order to cause a realignment of active and idle phases of the various components within the system.

Systems and/or methods are presented that can facilitate access of a memory device by the use of wireless communication technologies. A memory module is presented which combines memory with a wireless adapter component and a memory controller component to facilitate the wireless transmission and reception of data and/or commands from and to host component that requests access to the memory and the data stored therein. The memory module can dynamically switch between one wireless communication technology to another based on signal strength, signal quality, the distance between the memory module and a host component, power usage, as well as other criteria to facilitate an optimal data transmission or throughput rate.

In one embodiment, a programmable logic device includes a plurality of programmable logic blocks and a plurality of slices within each of the programmable logic blocks. At least one programmable logic blocks includes a first slice not adapted to provide register functionality or RAM functionality, a second slice adapted to provide register functionality but not RAM functionality, and a third slice adapted to provide register functionality and RAM functionality. Control logic within the programmable logic block is adapted to provide control signals at the programmable block level and at the slice level.

In one embodiment of the invention, programmable circuits, such as FPGAs, may be used to implement different types of functions, such as a multi-bit adder, using look-up table (LUT) circuits as their building blocks. Efficient generation of carry-out signals and fast-carry generation signals using available SRAM cells in the various embodiments of the LUT circuit can reduce and/or eliminate area-inefficient look-ahead carry logic without a significant delay in signal generation.

In one embodiment of the invention, a programmable logic device includes a plurality of programmable logic blocks and a plurality of dual-slice logic blocks within a programmable logic block. A dual-slice logic block includes a first slice including at least two lookup tables (LUTs); a second slice including at least two LUTs; and a routing circuit coupled to each of the LUTs within the first and second slices. The routing circuit is adapted to share outputs of the dual-slice logic block among the LUTs. In another embodiment of the invention, the dual-slice logic block includes a second routing circuit coupled to each of the LUTs within the first and second slices. The second routing circuit is adapted to share inputs of the dual-slice logic block among the LUTs.

Systems and methods provide programmable logic block architectures and routing architectures for the programmable logic blocks. For example, in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, a programmable logic device includes a plurality of programmable logic blocks and a plurality of logic block slices within each of the programmable logic blocks. A first routing circuit provides global signal routing within the programmable logic device for the corresponding programmable logic block. A first input routing circuit receives signals from the first routing circuit and routes the signals to the logic block slices within the corresponding programmable logic block.

In one embodiment of the invention, a programmable logic device comprises configuration memory adapted to store configuration data and a plurality of programmable logic blocks. At least one programmable logic block includes a plurality of dual-slice logic blocks, each dual-slice logic block including first and second slices, each slice including at least two lookup tables (LUTs) and a register. The programmable logic block further includes control logic adapted for selecting control signals separately at a programmable block level, a dual-slice block level, and a register level, the control logic responsive to configuration data stored within the configuration memory.

A read reference level of a plurality of read reference is determined for a set of bit cells of a non-volatile memory array. An indicator of the read reference level is stored in a non-volatile storage location associated with the set of bit cells. The indicator of the read reference level is accessed in response to a read access operation to the set of bit cells and a value stored at a memory location of the set of bit cells is sensed based on the indicator of the read reference level, whereby the memory location of the set of bit cells is associated with the read access operation.

Systems and methods are disclosed herein to provide logic block slice architectures and programmable logic block architectures along with control logic architectures in accordance with embodiments of the present invention. For example, in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, a programmable logic device includes a plurality of programmable logic blocks and a plurality of logic block slices within each of the programmable logic blocks, with each of the logic block slices having at least a first and a second slice each having at least a first lookup table. At least one of the programmable logic blocks includes at least a first logic block slice, a second logic block slice, and a third logic block slice, with the first logic block slice being a logic block slice type different from the second logic block slice, and the third logic block slice being a logic block slice type different from the first and second logic block slices. Control logic provides at a programmable logic block level bundled and/or unbundled control signals at a logic block slice level for at least two of the logic block slices.
