A sealing assembly, a well system, and a method are disclosed. The sealing assembly, in one aspect, includes a mandrel and a sealing element positioned about the mandrel, the sealing element having a radial inner and outer surface. The sealing assembly, according to this aspect, further includes a deployable control band positioned radially outside the radial inside surface, a first collar sleeve coupled proximate a first end of the sealing element, and a second collar sleeve coupled proximate a second end of the sealing element, wherein the first and second collar sleeves are configured to axially translate relative to one another along to move the sealing element between a radially retracted state a radially expanded state, and further wherein the deployable control band is configured to deploy from an undeployed state to a deployed state as the sealing element moves from the radially retracted state to the radially expanded state.

Systems and methods for creating seals that expand during temperature drops. The seals may include a negative CTE material that is either internal or external to the sealing element; shape memory alloys (SMA) which exhibit negative CTE during a phase change; and/or external lattice structures with positive CTE components but negative overall CTE.

Embodiments of a system, method, and apparatus for a liner hanger installed into a wellbore are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises a liner hanger to be positioned within a wellbore, wherein the liner hanger comprises, at least one spike to secure the liner hanger to a casing within the wellbore, wherein an outer diameter of the at least one spike includes a seal recess; and a seal object to be positioned in the seal recess to form a seal with the casing when the liner hanger is hanging on the casing.

The internal slip, in one aspect, includes a tubular, the tubular having a tubular inner diameter (ID) and a tubular outer diameter (OD). The internal slip, in this aspect, further includes a first set of teeth disposed along the tubular inner diameter (ID), the first set of teeth configured to engage with base teeth disposed on a base outer diameter (OD) of a base positioned radially inside of the tubular. The internal slip, in this aspect, further includes a second set of teeth disposed along the tubular outer diameter (OD), the second set of teeth configured to engage with stroke sleeve teeth disposed on a stroke sleeve outer diameter (OD) of a stroke sleeve positioned radially outside of the tubular, wherein one or more of the second set of teeth are generally symmetrical about a centerline thereof.

The sealing/anchoring assembly, in one aspect, includes a mandrel, a sealing/anchoring element positioned about the mandrel, and a setting sleeve coupled with a first end of the sealing/anchoring element. The sealing/anchoring assembly, in one aspect, further includes an internally threaded setting sleeve coupled with a second end of the sealing/anchoring element, the internally threaded setting sleeve configured to employ its internal threads to rotate and axially translate along the mandrel to move the sealing/anchoring element between a radially retracted state a radially expanded state.

Provided is a sealing/anchoring subassembly, a well system, and method. The sealing/anchoring subassembly, in one aspect, includes a mandrel, as well as a sealing/anchoring element positioned about the mandrel, the sealing/anchoring element configured to move between a radially retracted state and a radially expanded state. The sealing/anchoring subassembly, according to this aspect, also includes a ratch latch body coupled to the sealing/anchoring element, the ratch latch body configured to hold the sealing/anchoring element in the radially expanded state. The ratch latch body, in one aspect, may include a stroke sleeve having a plurality of stroke sleeve teeth disposed thereon, and a base having a plurality of base teeth disposed thereon, the stroke sleeve teeth and the base teeth configured to directly ratchet along one another to hold the sealing/anchoring element in the radially expanded state.

A wiper dart can be used in an oil and gas operation. The wiper dart can have at least two different outer diameters. A first outer diameter can be less than a second outer diameter and used to wipe the insides of tool joints of a tubing string. The second outer diameter can be used to wipe the insides of pipe sections of the tubing string that have a larger inner diameter than the tool joints. The single, bi-diameter wiper cup can be used in lieu of two or more current, conical-shaped wiper cups to accomplish the same functionality. The wiper cup can include a protruding ring located circumferentially around the wiper cup at the first outer diameter. A plurality of buttons or splines can be spaced apart around the wiper cup at the second outer diameter.

Systems and methods are provided for a wet-mate connector assembly that can include a stiffening material and a dielectric grease retainer for preventing the extrusion of dielectric grease during a wet connect. The wet-mate connector assembly can include a male portion and a female portion that can receive the male portion to form an electrical connection with the male portion. The wet-mate connector assembly can also include a dielectric grease retainer that can be positioned near the male portion and the female portion for retaining dielectric grease extruded from a contact chamber when the female portion receives the male portion. The dielectric grease retainer can seal and insulate the contact chamber. The contact chamber can be defined by an outer diameter of the male portion and an inner diameter of the female portion. The male portion and the female portion can include a stiffening material and an insulating material.

Provided is an expandable liner hanger assembly and a well system including the same. The expandable liner hanger assembly, in one aspect, includes a radially expandable tubular defining an interior passageway and an exterior surface. The expandable liner hanger assembly, in accordance with this aspect, further includes one or more continuous anchoring ridges extending radially outward from the radially expandable tubular, at least one of the one or more continuous anchoring ridges having a plurality of localized hardened sections placed circumferentially there around, the radially expandable tubular configured to move from an initial state wherein the one or more continuous anchoring ridges are not in contact with a wellbore tubular to an expanded state wherein the one or more continuous anchoring ridges are in gripping engagement with the wellbore tubular.

Methods and apparatus for performing a sealing operation. A sealing element is introduced into a wellbore having a temperature. The sealing element comprises a material having a positive coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), and a material having a negative CTE. The sealing element is expanded to contact an adjacent surface. The material having a negative CTE expands when the wellbore temperature is decreasing and the expansion of the negative CTE material maintains contact of the sealing element with the adjacent surface while the wellbore temperature is decreasing.

Methods and apparatus for performing a wellbore operation. A thermal compensator is introduced into a wellbore having a temperature. The thermal compensator comprises an outer layer comprising a first material, an inner layer comprising a second material, and a core disposed between the inner layer and the outer layer; wherein the core comprises a third material. The third material has a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than the first material and the second material. The core contracts when the wellbore temperature is decreasing and the contraction of the core moves the outer layer such that it applies a force to a structure adjacent to the outer layer.

A safety valve for a wellbore for production of hydrocarbons from a surrounding subsurface formation includes a flow tube through which a flow of fluids from the surrounding subsurface formation downhole to a surface of the wellbore, wherein the flow tube comprises a lower end through which the flow of fluids is to enter the flow tube, wherein the flow tube is composed of metal, except for at least a cut out section of the lower end that is composed a polymeric material. The safety valve includes a flapper configured close the safety valve by changing positions to cover an opening at the lower end of the flow tube such that an impact force of the closing on the flapper onto the flow tube is at least partially absorbed by the polymeric material.

A liner hanger system for use in a subterranean well is disclosed. The liner hanger system comprises a well casing and a liner hanger. The liner hanger comprises a spike extending in an annular ring around an outer perimeter of the liner hanger. The spike comprises an annular groove defined therein. The liner hanger further comprises an annular seal positioned at least partially within the annular groove. The liner hanger is expandable to transition between an initial state where the spike is not in contact with the well casing and an expanded state where the spike is in contact with the well casing. The spike and the annular seal are configured to seal an uphole well portion from a downhole well portion when the liner hanger is in the expanded state.

A frac plug defines a central passage therethrough and is movable from an unset to a set position in a well casing. A single slip ring assembly is supported by the bottom shoe and a slip wedge is positioned in slidable relationship to the single slip ring assembly. A sealing element is supported by the slip wedge. A deformable ball seat is movable axially relative to the sealing element and the sealing element is expandable radially outwardly to engage and seal against the well casing upon the application of a force applied thereto by the deformable ball seat.
