A stationary scroll plate for use in a scroll compressor is described. The stationary scroll plate comprises a base plate having a first side and a second side, wherein the second side opposes the first side; a spiral wrap formed at the first side of the base plate, wherein the spiral wrap is adapted to interact with a corresponding spiral wrap of an orbiting scroll plate to form a compression chamber; an injection channel formed within the base plate, the injection channel providing an injection path for injection of fluid into the compression chamber; a recess located at the second side; an insert placed within the recess, wherein the insert forms a cooling chamber within the recess; an inlet channel via which the cooling chamber is connected to the injection channel; and an outlet channel via which the cooling chamber is connected to the inside of the spiral wrap.

Thermal deformation management in a stationary scroll plate of a scroll compressor

A scroll compressor is described. The scroll compressor comprises a case having a high-pressure side and a low-pressure side, a stationary scroll plate having a base plate with a first side having at least one projection, which forms a spiral wrap, and a second side having a first annular protrusion, a pilot plate for separating the high-pressure side of the case from the low-pressure side of the case and the pilot plate abutting the second side of the stationary scroll plate, wherein the pilot plate has a first side, wherein the first side faces the second side of the stationary scroll plate and wherein the first side has a second annular protrusion, and a seal, wherein the seal seals a radial gap between the first annular protrusion and the second annular protrusion.

Sealing and compliance in a scroll compressor

A compressor for compressing a refrigerant is described. The compressor comprises a case having at least one curved portion and at least one opening, wherein the opening is located in the at least one curved portion, an electrical terminal arranged within the at least one opening and fixed to the case, wherein the at least one opening is an elliptical opening. Also, an electrical terminal for use with a compressor is described.

Fitting of an electrical terminal for a scroll compressor

A thrust plate for use in a scroll compressor is described. The thrust plate comprises a disk-shaped body defining a plane and having a first side and a second side, wherein the second side opposes the first side, at least one protrusion extending from the first side, and at least one recess located at the second side, wherein the at least one protrusion and the at least one recess overlap at least partially in a direction perpendicular to the plane. Further, a system is described, wherein the system comprises a thrust plate with at least one protrusion and an orbiting scroll plate with at least one recess, wherein the at least one protrusion and the at least one recess overlap. Also, a scroll compressor having either a corresponding thrust plate or a corresponding system is described.

Thrust plate for reducing contact stress in a scroll compressor

A compressor comprises a suction port configured to receive a refrigerant and means for compressing the refrigerant. The means for compressing forms at least one compression chamber, a discharge port configured for discharging the compressed refrigerant from the compressor, and a motor. The means for compressing comprises at least one opening for extracting a portion of the refrigerant from the at least one compression chamber and supplying the extracted portion of the refrigerant to the motor. A method comprises receiving a refrigerant at a suction port of the compressor, compressing the refrigerant in at least one compression chamber formed by a means for compressing of the compressor, discharging the refrigerant from the compressor at a discharge port of the compressor, and extracting a portion of the refrigerant from the at least one compression chamber and supplying the extracted portion of the refrigerant to a motor of the compressor.

Compressor cooling

A compressor includes a compression mechanism and a driveshaft that drives the compression mechanism. The driveshaft may include a first axially extending passage, a second axially extending passage, and a lubricant distribution passage. The first and second axially extending passages may be radially offset from each other and may intersect each other at an overlap region. The first and second axially extending passages are in fluid communication with each other at the overlap region. The lubricant distribution passage may extend from the first axially extending passage through an outer diametrical surface of the driveshaft. The lubricant distribution passage may be disposed at a first axial distance from a first axial end of the driveshaft. A first axial end of the overlap region may be disposed at a second axial distance from the first axial end of the driveshaft. The first axial distance may be greater than the second axial distance.
