An electronic device, method, and computer program product enable screen capture and playback of an extendable display provided by a flexible display coupled across a front side of a flexible display support structure that moves relative to a first housing. A remaining portion of the flexible display either scrolls up or rolls onto a backside of the base housing. A controller of the electronic device determines dimensions of a front display based on data from a position sensor. The controller presents visual content on the flexible display. In response to a trigger to screen record the visual content, the controller records in media file(s) frame(s) of the front display along with position data of the flexible display support structure. For playback, the controller activates the translation mechanism to match the position data and presents the frame(s) on corresponding portions of the flexible display from which the frame(s) was captured.

A method in an electronic device includes detecting, with a flexible display carried by a blade assembly that is slidably coupled to a device housing and movable between at least an extended position where an edge of the blade assembly extends beyond and end of the device housing and a retracted position where the edge of the blade assembly situates at the end of the device housing, user input translating a user interface interaction element beyond a border of the flexible display situated at the edge of the blade assembly. An electronic device includes a blade assembly with a flexible display and a translation mechanism that adjusts the movement of the blade assembly based on user input. The device detects user input and translates the blade assembly at varying speeds depending on the category of user input. Initial translation speeds are set based on the frequency of interaction and the user's familiarity with the device, with slower speeds for new or infrequent users and faster speeds for seasoned or frequent users. The translation speed increases as the device receives subsequent user inputs, adapting to the user's learning curve. The device also includes one or more processors that modify the translation speed in response to the level of friction applied to the blade assembly. The method includes, receiving, via a processor, a first temperature value from a temperature sensor, determining if the first temperature value is less than a threshold temperature value, and in response to the first temperature value being less than the threshold temperature value, detecting, via a sensor, which of a first housing and a second housing is being held. The method further includes in response to detecting the first housing is being held, triggering a power source selection circuit to select a first energy storage device to provide power to at least one power consuming component, and transition from drawing power from a second energy storage device.

Managing multiple energy storage devices in an electronic device based on environmental conditions

A method in an electronic device includes establishing, with a communication device, an electrical communication channel with a content presentation companion device. A communication device then queries the content presentation companion device for an identification of an aspect ratio of the content presentation companion device. A translation mechanism then causes a blade assembly carrying a flexible display to slide around a device housing sufficiently to reveal a front-facing area amount of the flexible display having dimensions corresponding to the aspect ratio. The method can also cause the front-facing area amount of the electronic device to match aspect ratios of other electronic device electronically in communication with the content presentation companion device.

Remote user video and audio are received at the device, and the remote user video and audio, and second user video and audio are conveyed via a first display screen and first speaker located on the front of the device.
