Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for uplink (UL) data channel design. An example method is provided for operations which may be performed by a first apparatus. The example method generally comprises determining a number of pilot symbols to transmit for one or more slots of a first subframe based, at least in part, on a coverage enhancement (CE) level, and transmitting at least one uplink data channel having the determined number of pilot symbols in the one or more slots of the first subframe.

Uplink data channel design for narrowband devices

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for pilot design for Narrow-Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT). In certain aspects, the method generally includes determining at least one binary code sequence to use as a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) for a channel transmitted across one or more subframes using one or more tones within a resource block (RB) allocated to the UE for narrowband communication, and transmitting the channel including the DMRS using the one or more tones and the determined binary code sequence. In certain aspects, the binary code sequence may be determined based on a binary random sequence, such as pseudo noise (PN) or Gold sequence.

Pilot design for uplink (UL) narrow-band internet of things (NB-IoT)

Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for physical broadcast channel (PBCH) and master information block (MIB) design. An example method is provided for operations which may be performed by a user equipment (UE). The example method generally comprises receiving, a first number of symbols within a first subframe on a physical channel, performing a first blind decode on the first number of symbols to obtain a first set of bits, performing one or more cyclic shifts on the first set of bits, calculating a redundancy check value for the first set of bits, and decoding an information block based on the whether the redundancy check value passes. Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for transmission configurations. An example method is provided for operations which may be performed by a base station (BS). The example method generally comprises selecting a transmission configuration, from a set of predetermined transmission configurations, based on a deployment configuration, generating a signal having an indication of the deployment configuration, and transmitting the signal.

Physical broadcast channel (PBCH) and master information block (MIB) design

Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for design of synchronization signals for narrowband operation and other clean-slate, OFDM based systems such as enhanced component carrier (eCC) systems. An example method is provided for operations which may be performed by a BS to generate and transmit a dual-layer PSS, and correspondingly, techniques for a UE to detect the dual-layer PSS. The PSS may be generated utilizing a binary code cover and at least one sequence applied to a number of symbols within one or more subframes of a frame.

Clean-slate synchronization signal design and cell search algorithms

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for implementing a data transmission scheme for Narrow-Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT). A User Equipment (UE) combines pairs of antenna ports to generate at least first and second combined antennas ports. The UE receives reference signals transmitted in a narrow band region of a larger system bandwidth, and for each combined port, adds the references signals received on resource elements (REs) of each of the combined pair of antenna ports. The UE determines channel estimates for each combined antenna port based on the added reference signals for the combined port.

Methods and apparatus for a data transmission scheme for Narrow-Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT)

Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for design of channel raster for narrowband operation. One example method, performed by a base station, generally includes determining, based on one or more conditions, an exact frequency location of one channel of one or more channels to perform narrowband communications with a user equipment. The method also includes transmitting an indication of the one or more conditions to the user equipment. The method further includes communicating with the UE, based at least in part on the exact frequency location of the one channel.

Raster design for narrowband operation for machine type communications

Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for design of synchronization signals for narrowband operation, which can be used for stand-alone/in-band/guard-band deployment. An example method is provided for operations which may be performed by a base station (BS). The example method generally includes generating a primary synchronization signal (PSS) utilizing a first code sequence and a cover code applied to the first code sequence over a first number of symbols within one or more subframes, generating a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) based on a second code sequence over a second number of symbols within one or more subframes, and transmitting the PSS and the SSS in the first and second subframes to a first type of a user equipment (UE) that communicates on one or more narrowband regions of wider system bandwidth.

There is provided a system that includes a correlation module configured to receive input data from a device and generate a composite statement based on the input data and at least one of a condition of the system and domain model data. The system includes a decision module configured to generate recommendation data based on the composite statement. Further, the system includes a control module configured to engage an action at the device based on the recommendation data.

Methods and systems for adaptive and contextual collaboration in a network

A phase balancing system includes a load forecasting module, a phase unbalance identification module and a demand response module. The load forecasting module determines a load forecast for the distribution system for the period of interest and the phase unbalance identification module determines voltage unbalance on the distribution system for the period of interest. The demand response module estimates an available demand response on the distribution system for the period of interest and allocates an optimized demand response from the available demand response to minimize the voltage unbalance on the distribution system for the period of interest.
