Tire treads, especially tire treads for aircraft or for heavy vehicles, formed from a material that is based upon a cross-linkable rubber composition, the cross-linkable rubber composition comprising, per 100 parts by weight of rubber, between 40 phr and 100 phr of a polyisoprene rubber, between 0 and 60 phr of a highly unsaturated diene rubber and between 1 phr and 25 phr of a polyterpene resin having a glass transition temperature of between 50&#xb0; C. and 120&#xb0; C. The rubber composition further includes between 0.1 phr and 10 phr of a poly-thiosulfate anti-reversion agent having the formula:MOS&#x2014;S&#x2014;X&#x2014;S&#x2014;SOMwherein X is an alkylene radical or a radical comprising two or more alkylene units, pairs of which units being linked through an oxygen or a sulfur atom, through a group &#x2014;SO&#x2014;, &#x2014;NH&#x2014;, &#x2014;NH&#x2014;, &#x2014;N(Calkyl)- or &#x2014;COO&#x2014;, or through an arylene or cycloalkylene radical and M is a metal.

Rubber composition for aircraft tire treads

Rubber compositions and rubber articles manufactured from such rubber compositions that include the well-known antioxidant poly-2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline (TMQ) having the formula (CHN)where n=2&#x2dc;4 as well as a methylene acceptor/donor system reinforcing resin. Such embodiments include a tire component comprising a rubber composition that is based upon a cross-linkable elastomer composition, the cross-linkable rubber composition comprising, per 100 parts by weight of rubber (phr), a highly unsaturated diene elastomer, reinforcing filler, between 0.5 phr and 10 phr of TMQ and the methylene acceptor/methylene donor.

High rigidity rubber composition

Tire components comprising rubber compositions based upon cross-linkable elastomer composition, the cross-linkable elastomer compositions including, per 100 parts by weight of rubber (phr), a highly unsaturated diene elastomer, a reinforcing filler and a methylene acceptor of the form wherein R is selected from H, an alkyl moiety, a cycloalkyl moiety, an aryl moiety, an amine moiety or combinations thereof. The rubber compositions include a methylene donor in an amount that provides little or no change in the rigidity of the cured rubber composition. Since the methylene acceptor may be described as having antidegradant properties, then resulting rubber composition has improved resistance to degradation.

Rubber composition and method for low resin crosslinking

A tire component comprising a rubber composition having a highly unsaturated diene elastomer and a reinforcing filler with a methylene acceptor selected from 3-hydroxydiphenyl-amine, 4-hydroxydiphenyl-amine or combinations thereof. Such rubber compositions further include a methylene donor, wherein a ratio of the methylene acceptor to the methylene donor may be greater than 10:1 or in other embodiments greater than 10:1 but no more than 50:1 or between 15:1 and 30:1. A method for manufacturing a tire component includes mixing together components of a rubber composition into a non-productive mix, the components including a highly unsaturated diene elastomer, a reinforcing filler and a methylene acceptor selected from 3-hydroxydiphenyl-amine, 4-hydroxydiphenyl-amine or combinations thereof; and mixing a methylene donor and a vulcanizing agent into the non-productive mix to convert the non-productive mix to a productive mix.

Rubber composition with low resin crosslinking

A tire component comprising a rubber composition having a highly unsaturated diene elastomer and a reinforcing filler with a first methylene acceptor selected from 3-hydroxydiphenylamine, 4-hydroxydiphenylamine or combinations thereof; a second methylene acceptor selected from a Novolac resin, diphenylolmethane, diphenylolethane diphenylolpropane, diphenylolbutane, a naphthol, a cresol or combinations thereof and a methylene donor. A method for manufacturing a tire component includes mixing together components of a rubber composition into a non-productive mix, the components including a highly unsaturated diene elastomer, a reinforcing filler, a first methylene acceptor selected from 3-hydroxydiphenylamine, 4-hydroxydiphenylamine or combinations thereof and a second methylene acceptor selected from a Novolac resin, diphenylolmethane, diphenylolethane diphenylolpropane, diphenylolbutane, a naphthol, a cresol or combinations thereof; and mixing a methylene donor and a vulcanizing agent into the non-productive mix to convert the non-productive mix to a productive mix.

Rubber composition with multiple reinforcing resins

An apparatus for transferring heat into a product, such as a tire, formed at least in part by molding is provided. The apparatus includes a mold that has a central axis with a forming surface disposed radially outward from the central axis. A heating conduit is included and is at least partially located radially outward from the forming surface of the mold. The heating conduit is configured for use with a gas, such as saturated steam, in order to effect heat transfer to the forming surface of the mold. The heating conduit extends helically with respect to the central axis in order to allow condensation formed in the heating conduit to be drained therefrom via the force of gravity. A drainage connector may be in communication with the exit of the heating conduit and have a lower longitudinal axis than the heating conduit to allow condensation to drain more easily therefrom.
