A station may receive a frame transmitted to a plurality of stations (STAs). The frame may indicate a first frequency resource allocated for the STA and a second frequency resource allocated for another STA of the plurality of STAs. The STA may transmit a data frame using the first frequency resource and receive an acknowledgement frame that acknowledges receipt of the data frame. The STA may receive a multi-user request to send (MU RTS) frame transmitted to the plurality of STAs and may subsequently transmit a clear to send (CTS) frame in response to receipt of the MU RTS frame. The RTS/CTS transmissions may occur prior to transmission of the data frame.

Enhancements for resource allocation in WLAN systems

Methods and apparatuses are described herein for multiple-access point (multi-AP) sounding procedures in a wireless local area network (WLAN). A coordinating AP (CAP) may receive, from one or more member APs in a multi-AP set (MAPS), one or more indications indicating that the one or more member APs are capable of multi-AP sounding during a transmission opportunity (TXOP). The CAP may transmit a CAP TXOP indication (CTI) frame indicating that the multi-AP sounding is to be performed during a TXOP acquired by the CAP. The CAP may receive a CAP TXOP request (CTR) frame indicating that the one or more member APs of the MAP are willing to perform multi-AP sounding during the TXOP. The CAP may transmit a CAP TXOP AP schedule (CTAS) frame indicating a transmission schedule for one or more sounding frames to be transmitted by the one or more member APs during the TXOP.

Multi-AP setup and transmission procedures for WLAN systems

Systems and methods for multidimensional beam refinement procedures and signaling for millimeter wave WLANs. In some embodiments, there are multi-dimensional enhanced beam refinement protocol MAC and PHY frame designs that extend the MAC packet and the PPDU format with or without backwards compatibility. The multiple dimensions may be supported jointly or separately. In other embodiments, the increased data signaled in the eBRP frame designs may be more efficiently signaled with reduced BRP frame sizes, such as through a training type dependent BRP minimum duration selection procedure or use of null data packet BRP frames. In further embodiments, the maximum duration of the interframe spacing between BPR packets may be varied to improve the efficiency of BRP operation.

Multidimensional beam refinement procedures and signaling for mmWave WLANs

Methods and apparatuses for operating in multi-access point (AP) wireless networks are described herein. A method performed by an AP may include transmitting, using a set of resources, a multi-AP ready-to-send (RTS) frame to at least one other AP and a plurality of stations (STAs). The method may include transmitting another frame using a portion of the set of resources. The method may include receiving, using the portion of the set of resources, a clear-to-send (CTS) frame from at least one STA of the plurality of STAs in response to the another frame. The method may include transmitting, using the portion of the set of resources, a data frame to the at least one STA. The multi-AP RTS frame may include resource allocation information for the at least one other AP and the plurality of STAs.

Multi-RU multi-AP transmissions in WLAN systems

Methods and apparatus are described. A station includes a transceiver and a processor, which receive a trigger frame for an uplink (UL) transmission. The trigger frame includes an indication of resource units (RUs) for random access in an upcoming UL high efficiency trigger based packet data convergence protocol data unit and an indication that the trigger frame is a poll for a buffer status report of the STA. The processor and the transceiver transmit a buffer status of the STA using a selected one of the indicated RUs.

Method and apparatus for multi-user concurrent random access for wireless local area networks (WLANS)

Enhanced protocols and devices may be used to alleviate loss of spectrum efficiency in wideband transmission. The protocols may implement a wideband transmission opportunity (TXOP) truncation where one or more of the channels involved in communication over the wideband are released. In one scenario, an access point (AP) may receive, from a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), a first CF-End frame that includes a duration field and a basic service set identifier (BSSID) field that includes an individual/group bit. On a condition that the individual/group bit of the BSSID field has a value of one (1), the AP may determine that a scrambling sequence of the first CF-End frame indicates a bandwidth associated with a transmit opportunity (TXOP) being truncated by the WTRU. The AP may then transmit a second CF-End frame at the bandwidth indicated by the scrambling sequence of the first CF-End frame.

Method and apparatus for supporting wideband and multiple bandwidth transmission protocols

Methods and apparatuses are described herein for adapting clear channel assessment (CCA) thresholds with or without Transmit Power Control (TPC) are disclosed. An IEEE 802.11 station (STA) may dynamically calculate a STA specific transmit power control (TPC) value and a STA specific clear channel assessment (CCA) value based on a target TPC parameter and a target CCA parameter. The target TPC parameter and the target CCA parameter may be received from an IEEE 802.11 cluster head configured to control TPC and CCA for a plurality of STAs associated with the BSS. The target TPC parameter and the target CCA parameter also may be related. The STA may then determine whether a carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) wireless medium of a wireless local area network (WLAN) basic service set (BSS) is occupied or idle based on the STA specific CCA value.

Clear channel assessment (CCA) threshold adaptation method

A method and apparatus for power savings in a wireless local area network (WLAN) are disclosed. A station (STA) may receive parameters that associate the STA to a specific group of STAs and perform a channel access during a period that is allowed for the group of STAs based on the parameters. The STA may receive information regarding an access slot that is allowed for the group of STAs and access a channel during the access slot. The STA may receive a schedule for wake up from a doze state and goes in and out of the doze state based on the schedule. A highest channel access priority may be provided to a sensor or meter type of STA. The STA may indicate to an access point (AP) that the STA will not listen to a traffic indication map (TIM) or a delivery TIM (DTIM) in a beacon.

Method and apparatus for power savings in a wireless local area network

Methods and apparatuses for multiple input-multiple output (MIMO) channel access are provided herein. A method performed by a station (STA) may include receiving, from an initiating STA, a frame including information indicating a broadcast address and a control trailer. The control trailer may include information indicating that a multi-user multiple input-multiple output (MU-MIMO) frame is to be received from the initiating STA, and information indicative of a plurality of STAs, the plurality of STAs including the STA. The method may include transmitting a response frame to the indicated broadcast address based on the received frame and receiving the MU-MIMO frame from the initiating STA.

MIMO channel access

A method performed by a STA may comprise receiving a frame, from a first AP including an indication of a configuration change counter (CCC) associated with a second AP. The CCC may be an unsigned integer that increments when an update to one or more AP parameters of the second AP has occurred. The method may further comprise establishing a first wireless link with the first AP and establishing a master key via at least the first wireless link.

Station and method for receiving a frame comprising a configuration change counter corresponding to another access point

A method of multi-access point (multi-AP) communication performed by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprises: receiving a first trigger frame from a first access point (AP) of a plurality of APs, the first trigger frame comprising first information; receiving a second trigger frame from a second AP of the plurality of APs at a predetermined time duration after receiving the first trigger frame, the second trigger frame also comprising the first information of the first trigger frame; generating a synchronization frame based on the first trigger frame and the second trigger frame, the synchronization frame comprising synchronization information; transmitting the synchronization frame to at least the first AP and the second AP; and receiving a data transmission based on the synchronization information from each of the first AP and the second AP.

Methods and apparatus for joint multi-AP transmission in WLANS

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are provided to implement transmission scheduling. A multiband device may send a request via a first frequency band. The request may include a multiband Request to Send (MRTS) transmission. The request may be associated with a second frequency band and/or a beamforming training schedule. The first frequency band may be associated with a quasi-omni transmission and the second frequency band may be associated with a directional transmission. The first frequency band may be a 5 GHz band and the second frequency band may be a 60 GHz band. The multiband device may receive a multiband Clear to Send (MCTS) transmission via the first frequency band confirming the request. The multiband device may be configured to send a beamforming signal in accordance with the request, for example, via the second frequency band. The beamforming signal may be sent in accordance with a beamforming training schedule.

Multi-band operation for wireless LAN systems

A method and apparatus may be used for WiFi sectorization medium access control enhancement (WiSE MAC). An IEEE 802.11 STA may receive an omni-directional indication of a first sectorized transmission opportunity (TXOP) associated with a second STA. The omni-directional indication may include an identifier (ID) of a first sector associated with the first sectorized TXOP. The STA may transmit a directional indication of a second sectorized TXOP a condition that a second sector associated with the second sectorized TXOP does not interfere with the first sector associated with the first sectorized TXOP.

Methods for WiFi sectorization mac enhancement

A method for multiple access point (AP) transmission is disclosed. The method comprises receiving a repetition beacon from each of a plurality of APs, each received repetition beacon comprising a common information part and an AP-specific information part; decoding at least a subset of the received common information parts to obtain a first parameter; decoding the received AP-specific information parts to obtain a second parameter for each of the plurality of APs; performing a calculation based on the first parameter, the obtained second parameters and a number of the plurality of APs to obtain a calculation result; and transmitting a feedback based on the calculation result to the plurality of AP.
