A computer-implemented method for solar energy disaggregation at a node of a distribution system includes obtaining first data including samples of averaged net power measured by a meter installed at the node and second data including samples of solar irradiation local to the node averaged over intervals temporally correlated with the first data. A physics-based model of the node is trained using the first and second data, to optimize a set of model parameters. The physics-based model is defined such that an average net power includes a composite of an average solar generation and an average power consumption at the node and the average solar generation is modeled as a function of an average solar irradiation. An aggregate solar generation at the node is estimated/predicted from actual irradiation data/irradiation forecast data local to the node using a model parameter optimized by the training.

Unsupervised solar energy disaggregation system and method

A system and method for estimation of grid impedance in a power converter controller is disclosed in which a current controller is provided to inject an injection current while operating online and coupled to a power grid at a point of common coupling (PCC), the injection current being benign to an operating current of the power converter. A voltage controller is provided to regulate input voltage of the power converter. An impedance module is provided to determine parameters for the injection current, including injection interval and duration, current magnitude, current frequency, and symmetrical components. The impedance module may extract measurements of current and voltage at the PCC at an operating point shifted from a previous operating point in response to the injection current. The impedance module may extract symmetrical components of current and voltage measurements, and compute estimated grid impedance based on the extracted symmetrical components.

Grid impedence estimation for power converter controller

A method and system for localizing faults in an industrial process is proposed. The industrial process includes a plurality of components. The method includes receiving structural plant data from an industrial plant. A structured model of the process is generated from the structural plant data. Sensor data measuring characteristics of the plurality of components is also received. Parameters of the structured model are identified from the received sensor data and stored. Faults are detected during operation of the industrial plant utilizing the identified parameters and detecting changes in the parameters by comparing current parameters to stored parameters. The fault information is then displayed via a display to an operator.

Online fault localization in industrial processes without utilizing a dynamic system model

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for autonomous restoration of power systems after natural disasters. An operating mode of a circuit breaker that is in a power system grid and that is coupled to other circuit breakers in the power system grid via communication channels is determined. Based on determining that the operating mode is a normal operating mode, data to parameterize a plurality of power grid restoration scenarios is collected at the circuit breaker. Based on determining that the operating mode is an exception mode, measurement data that includes current and voltage data is received at the circuit breaker, and one of the power system grid restoration scenarios is initiated at the circuit breaker. The power system grid error restoration scenario is selected based at least in part on a status of the plurality of communication channels coupled to the circuit breaker and on the measurement data.

Autonomous restoration of power systems after natural disasters

Systems and methods are provided for generating a flow control plan for a plurality of components in a flow control system. A decentralized multi-agent control framework is used to plan and schedule for each agent independently without a central processor. Each agent of the multi-agent control framework separately optimizes a local portion of the system as a function of values for one or more parameters. Agents communicate with other connected agents, sharing values for parameters. The communication provides a negotiation and consensus for values of the shared parameters that are used by the agent to recalculate optimized parameters values for the local portion of the system.

Decentralized planning, scheduling and control of multi-agent flow control system

A computer-based system and method is disclosed for spatial programming of a robotic device. A mixed reality tool may select an object related to one or more interactive tasks for the robotic device. A spatial location of the object may be located including Cartesian coordinates and orientation coordinates of the object. An application program may be executed to operate the robotic device using the spatial location. Based on initial parameters, execution of the one or more tasks by the robotic device on the object related to a skill set may be simulated in a mixed reality environment.

A method for estimating an admittance matrix for a transmission network comprises estimating in an upper layer time-series data for hidden nodes in the transmission network, computing in a lower layer an estimated admittance matrix for the transmission network and iteratively exchanging information between the upper layer and the second lower layer to produce a final admittance matrix for the transmission matrix. In some embodiments, the method may further comprise spatially dividing the transmission network into a plurality of subnets in the upper layer and estimating the time-series data for the hidden nodes for each subnet. Estimating the times series data for the hidden nodes for each subnet in parallel.

Method and system for online multi-layered grid admittance estimation with limited data measurements

A power distribution and control system for use with a bulk generation system having transmission and distribution systems, the power distribution and control system including a plurality of microgrids each including a power generation element and a load, a plurality of microgrid controllers each associated with one and only one of the plurality of microgrids, and a first communication network. A high-level controller is operable using the first communication network to communicate with the bulk generation system and each of the plurality of microgrid controllers, the high-level controller operable to coordinate the operation of the microgrids during normal system operation. A second communication network is separate from the first communication network, the second communication network providing peer to peer communication between each of the plurality of microgrid controllers when at least one of the high-level controller and the first communication network is not available, and a plurality of third communication networks provide communication between one of the plurality of microgrid controllers and at least one of the power generation element and the load associated with that microgrid controller.
