A display includes a display area that emits light and a border region surrounding at least a portion of the light emitting region. A light guide plate is overlaying the display area. A lighting module is operatively interconnected with the light guide plate to provide light to the light guide plate and positioned within the border region, and a one camera module is operatively interconnected with the light guide plate to sense light from the light guide plate and positioned within the border region. The display determines a position of a touch on the light guide plate by determining a location of frustrated total internal reflection within the light guide plate as a result of the touch on the light guide plate.

Touch sensitive display system

A method of illuminating a display includes spatially varying the luminance of a multi-colored light source illuminating a plurality of pixels of the display in response to receiving a plurality of pixel values, and varying the transmittance of a light valve of the display having filters corresponding to the multi-colored light source in response to receiving the plurality of pixel values. The illumination is modified for a plurality of pixel values based upon modification of the luminance of the light source and varying the transmittance of the light valve. The modifying is further based upon modification of at least one of the multi-colored light sources together with modification of the transmittance of the light valve corresponding to at least one of the filters of a different color than the at least one of the multi-colored light sources in such a manner that increases the color gamut of the display.

A method for image processing that includes determining edge pixels of a model image using an edge based technique, and an angular orientation for each of the edge pixels of the model image. The method determines a lower spatial resolution model image based upon the model image and determining respective angular orientations for the lower spatial resolution model image. The method determines edge pixels of an input image using an edge based technique, and an angular orientation for each of the edge pixels of the input image. The method determines a lower spatial resolution input image based upon the input image and determining respective angular orientations for the lower spatial resolution input image. The method matches the lower spatial resolution model image with the lower spatial resolution input image to determine candidate locations of an object within the input image and based upon the candidate locations matching the input image with the model image.

A method of field sequential color image capture includes: optically capturing a scene frame-by-frame; filtering the scene through an active color shutter to produce a first color component set having plural first color components therein; detecting the scene with a color filter array area sensor, wherein each first color component of the first color component set of the scene is detected at different points in time within a frame; dividing the detected scene into a second color component set having plural second color components therein; aligning the second color component set in time for each frame interval; and combining the stored second color components into a frame image. A system for capturing a field sequential color image includes an optical capture mechanism for capturing a scene frame-by-frame in frame intervals which operates at a predetermined shutter speed; a color shutter for producing a first color component set having plural first color components therein, thereby modifying the spectral transmission of the scene as a function of time; a CFA area sensor for sensing the first color components, wherein each first color component of the scene is detected at a different point in time within a frame; an array field selector for dividing the scene into a second color component set having plural second color components therein; and a field-to-frame combiner for combining the second color components into a frame image.

Method and system for field sequential color image capture using color filter array

A method for color registration in a image capturing device includes arranging multiple rows and multiple columns of pixel capturing elements in a sensor array; capturing a luminance component of the image and generating a luminance output signal therefrom; capturing in another row and in alternate columns thereof, a first color component, capturing a luminance component in the remaining columns thereof, and generating a first color-luminance output signal therefrom; and capturing, in another row and in alternate columns thereof, a second color component, capturing a luminance component in the remaining columns thereof, and generating a second color-luminance output signal therefrom. A system for color registration in a image capturing device includes a sensor array having multiple rows and multiple columns of pixel capturing elements therein, wherein a first row has pixel capturing elements for capturing a luminance component of the image at a first resolution; another row and alternate columns thereof have pixel capturing elements for capturing a first color component at one-half of said first resolution, and which contain pixel capturing elements in the remaining columns thereof for capturing a luminance component thereof; and another row and alternate columns thereof have pixel capturing elements for capturing a second color component at one-half said first resolution, and which contain pixel capturing elements in the remaining columns thereof for capturing a luminance component thereof.
