Personal care formulation is provided having multistage polymer, comprising: acrylate rich stage comprising: (a) structural units of monomer selected from Calkyl (meth)acrylates and structural units of first carbosiloxane monomer of formula (I); and (b) carbosiloxane rich stage, comprising: structural units of second carbosiloxane monomer of formula (I); wherein a is 0 to 3; wherein d is 0 or 1; wherein Ris selected from hydrogen, Calkyl group and aryl group; wherein Ris selected from hydrogen and Calkyl group; wherein Ris —O—Si(CH)group; wherein Y is selected from formula (II), (III) and (IV); wherein Rand Rare selected from hydrogen and methyl group; wherein Rand Rare Calkylene group; wherein Ris Calkyl group; wherein b is 0 to 4 and wherein c is 0 or 1; and wherein the first and second carbosiloxane monomer of formula (I) are same or different.

Personal care formulation

A polymer blend is provided comprising: a single stage polymer and a silicone-grafted vinyl copolymer; wherein the single stage polymer comprises: structural units of a monoethylenically unsaturated non-ionic monomer; structural units of a monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer; and structural units of a multiethylenically unsaturated monomer having at least two ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule; and wherein the silicone-grafted vinyl copolymer, comprises: structural units of a vinyl monomer; and structural units of a carbosiloxane dendrimer of formula (I). Also provided is a suncare formulation comprising the polymer blend in a dermatologically acceptable carrier with a suncare active.

A multistage colored polymer particle is provided, having a core comprising polymerized units of a monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid core monomer and a non-ionic ethylenically unsaturated core monomer; an inner shell comprising polymerized units of a non-ionic ethylenically unsaturated inner shell monomer; a monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid inner shell monomer; optionally, an aliphatic inner shell monomer; and, optionally, a first polymerizable dye monomer; an outer shell comprising polymerized units of a non-ionic ethylenically unsaturated outer shell monomer; a monoethylenically unsaturated non-carboxylic acid outer shell monomer; optionally, a second polymerizable dye monomer; and, optionally, an aliphatic outer shell monomer; wherein the core, when dry, contains at least one void; and wherein the multistage colored polymer particle comprises polymerized units of polymerizable dye monomer. Provided are compositions that are useful as oil-free emollients and SPF and UV absorption boosters in sunscreen formulations. The emollients are oil-soluble polyalkylene glycols, wherein the polyalkylene glycol comprises units derived from propylene oxide and units derived from butylene oxide, and in certain embodiments are compounds of Formula I:RO&#x2014;(PO)&#x2014;(BO)&#x2014;H&#x2003;&#x2003;(I)wherein PO is propyleneoxy, BO is butyleneoxy, R is a linear or branched C-Calkyl, n has an average value of from 5 to 20, and m has an average value of from 4 to 16.

Oil-free emollients in sunscreen compositions

The present invention provides personal care formulations containing silicone modified polyolefins and having improved sensory feel, as well as being non-tacky and easily spreadable. The present invention also provides a method for treating body surfaces such as skin, hair, nails, etc., by applying the aforesaid personal care formulations externally to such a surface. The present invention also provides a method for improving the sensory feel of personal care formulations by including one or more silicone modified polyolefins in the formulations.

Described are personal care compositions comprising a polyacrylate oil gel, comprising: (a) at least one cosmetically acceptable hydrophobic ester oil, and (b) one or more polymers comprising: (i) a first polymerized unit, comprising: (1) 75% to 35% by weight, based on the weight of said polymerized unit, one or more (meth)acrylate monomers selected from at least one of C1-C4 (meth)acrylate, (meth)acrylic acid, styrene, or substituted styrene, and (2) 25% to 65% by weight, based on the weight of said polymerized unit, one or more hydrophobic monomers, including hydrophobically substituted (meth)acrylate monomers, with alkyl chain length from C6 to C22 and, (ii) a second polymerized unit, comprising: (1) 10-99% by weight, based on the weight of said polymerized unit, one or more monomers which has a Tg of more than 80&#xb0; C. after polymer formation, (2) 1-10% of one or more (meth)acrylate monomers containing acid functional group, and (iii) optionally, a crosslinker.
