A 2D/3D switchable stereoscopic display apparatus includes a display panel, a liquid crystal lens, and a controller. The liquid crystal lens includes a first substrate having a plurality of first electrodes, a second substrate disposed opposite to the first substrate and having a second electrode, a liquid crystal layer constituting liquid crystal molecules disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, and a plurality spacers. The controller is configured to, when the display apparatus is in a 2D display state, control a first voltage between the first electrodes and the second electrode to generate a first electric field with an equal electric field intensity, which causes the liquid crystal molecules to rotate by a predetermined degree such that a refractive index difference between the liquid crystal molecules and the spacers is within a preset range.

2D/3D switchable stereoscopic display apparatus

A stereoscopic display device includes a display panel for displaying 2D/3D images, a driving circuit module, and a light-splitting device. The light-splitting device includes a first substrate having a plurality of first electrodes, a second substrate arranged facing the first substrate and having at least one second electrode, a liquid crystal layer placed between the first substrate and the second substrate, and a plurality of spacers in the liquid crystal layer. The driving circuit module is configured to, when in the 3D display mode, provide a plurality of driving voltages between the first electrodes and the second electrode to make the liquid crystal layer an array of liquid crystal lenses and, when in the 2D display mode, to provide a deflection voltage between the first electrodes and the second electrode to reduce a refractive index difference between the liquid crystal molecules and the spacers with a predetermined range.

2D/3D switchable stereoscopic display device

A three-dimensional (3D) display system is provided. The 3D display system includes a backlight plate, a display panel, a light-splitting device, and a polarization state controller. The display panel is configured to display a two-dimensional (2D) image in a 2D mode or to display a 3D image in a 3D mode. The light-splitting device is configured to an arrangement module configured to pass the 2D image in the 2D mode, and to separate the 3D image into a left image and a right image. Further, the polarization state controller is disposed between the display panel and the light-splitting device and is configured to rotate a polarization direction of light emitted from the display panel in the 2D mode, and to keep the polarization direction of the light emitted from the display panel in the 3D mode.

Autostereoscopic display device and method

A three-dimensional (3D) display apparatus is provided for displaying a 3D image. The 3D display apparatus includes a display panel and a grating device coupled to the display panel. The display panel includes a plurality of display pixels arranged in a two-dimensional array, and each pixel includes multiple sub-pixels. The grating device includes a plurality of grating elements based on liquid crystal to guide lights associated with the plurality of display pixels into predetermined viewing directions. Further, the grating device is one of a lenticular lens grating and a slit grating, and the plurality of grating elements are arranged in parallel. The plurality of grating elements cover the plurality of display pixels and are tilted at an inclination angle with respect to the display pixels, and each grating element comprises a plurality of electrodes arranged at the inclination angle. Further, a width of the electrodes is less than or equal to a width of a sub-pixel and a width between any two electrode is less than or equal to a sub-pixel.

Autostereoscopic display apparatus and method

A 2D/3D display system is provided. The system includes a first substrate, a second substrate arranged facing the first substrate with a distance from the first substrate, a liquid crystal layer including liquid crystal molecules and configured to provide a display area, a first electrode section and a second electrode section arranged on a first side of the liquid crystal layer, a third electrode section arranged on a second side of the liquid crystal layer, and voltage output modules. The voltage output modules are configured to receive image display adjustment signals, where the image display adjustment signals includes at least one of 2D display area position information and 3D display area position information. The voltage output modules are also configured to provide one or more driving voltages for the first electrode section, the second electrode section and the third electrode section based on the received image display adjustment signals.

System and method for two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) display

A 2D/3D switching system contains a 2D/3D switching device having a display area for selectively processing lights from 2D images and 3D images. The 2D/3D switching device includes a first substrate, a plurality of first electrodes formed on the first substrate, a second substrate, a plurality of second electrodes formed on the second substrate and arranged corresponding to the plurality of first electrodes and separated with a distance, and a liquid crystal layer placed between the first substrate and the second substrate to provide the display area. A driving unit is configured to provide driving voltages to the plurality of first electrodes and the plurality of second electrodes. The driving unit applies a plurality of voltages on the first electrodes and the second electrodes to enable the liquid crystal layer to operate in one of a full-screen 2D mode, a full-screen 3D mode, and a 2D/3D mode.
