An electric machine is presented. The electric machine includes a hollow rotor; and a stator disposed within the hollow rotor, the stator defining a flow channel. The hollow rotor includes a first end portion defining a fluid inlet, a second end portion defining a fluid outlet; the fluid inlet, the fluid outlet, and the flow channel of the stator being configured to allow passage of a fluid from the fluid inlet to the fluid outlet via the flow channel; and wherein the hollow rotor is characterized by a largest cross-sectional area of hollow rotor, and wherein the flow channel is characterized by a smallest cross-sectional area of the flow channel, wherein the smallest cross-sectional area of the flow channel is at least about 25% of the largest cross-sectional area of the hollow rotor. An electric fluid pump and a power generation system are also presented.

Techniques and systems to reduce deflection of a riser extending from an offshore platform. The riser may include a flow guide. The flow guide may receive a fluid. The flow guide may also include one or more outlets that are configured to transmit the fluid. This transmission of the fluid by the one or more outlets may counteract currents or other factors to mitigate deflection in the riser.

An apparatus, such as an electrical machine, is provided. The apparatus can include a rotor defining a rotor bore and a conduit disposed in and extending axially along the rotor bore. The conduit can have an annular conduit body defining a plurality of orifices disposed axially along the conduit and extending through the conduit body. The rotor can have an inner wall that at least partially defines the rotor bore. The orifices can extend through the conduit body along respective orifice directions, and the rotor and conduit can be configured to provide a line of sight along the orifice direction from the respective orifices to the inner wall.

A cooling device for a power module having an electronic module disposed on a base plate via a substrate is disclosed. The cooling device includes a heat sink plate having at least one cooling segment. The cooling segment includes an inlet plenum for entry of a cooling medium, a plurality of inlet manifold channels, a plurality of outlet manifold channels, and an outlet plenum. The plurality of inlet manifold channels are coupled orthogonally to the inlet plenum for receiving the cooling medium from the inlet plenum. The plurality of outlet manifold channels are disposed parallel to the inlet manifold channels. The outlet plenum is coupled orthogonally to the plurality of outlet manifold channels for exhaust of the cooling medium. A plurality of millichannels are disposed in the base plate orthogonally to the inlet and the outlet manifold channels. The plurality of milli channels direct the cooling medium from the plurality of inlet manifold channels to the plurality of outlet manifold channels.

Cooling device for a power module, and a related method thereof

Provided is an apparatus, for example, for use with a rotating electric machine, that includes a housing. The housing can include a housing main portion and a housing end portion. The housing main portion can be configured to be disposed proximal to a body portion of a stator section of an electric machine. The housing main portion can define a main fluid channel that is configured to conduct fluid therethrough. The housing end portion can receive fluid from said main fluid channel and direct fluid into contact with a winding end portion of a conductive winding of the stator section.

Apparatus for cooling an electric machine

The present application provides a stator. The stator may include a number of poles and a stator tip and cooling assembly. The stator tip and cooling assembly may include a number of stator tips with a number of cooling tubes adjacent thereto such that the stator tips align with the poles and the cooling tubes cool the poles.

Stator and method of assembly

A stator assembly includes a segmented stator having stator portions. Each stator portion includes stator laminations having stator windings, spacer plates having a portion embedded within the stator laminations, and structural plates having a portion embedded within the stator laminations. The portion of each of the spacer plates and each of the structural plates has notch-like structures that create openings to allow a cooling medium to flow between the notch-like structures to provide radial cooling of the stator windings. Connectors are provided to connect the stator portions of the segmented stator together.

An electrical machine comprising a rotor is presented. The electrical machine includes the rotor disposed on a rotatable shaft and defining a plurality of radial protrusions extending from the shaft up to a periphery of the rotor. The radial protrusions having cavities define a fluid path. A stationary shaft is disposed concentrically within the rotatable shaft wherein an annular space is formed between the stationary and rotatable shaft. A plurality of magnetic segments is disposed on the radial protrusions and the fluid path from within the stationary shaft into the annular space and extending through the cavities within the radial protrusions.
