Devices and methods related to a graphene oxide-based membrane are provided. A method comprises immersing graphene oxide-based layers in a water-based solution, stirring the water-based solution in a swirling motion until the graphene oxide-based layers each physically curve, adding a crosslinker to the water-based solution to cause the formation of saccate graphene oxide-based cells that are connected to each other via channels, and stacking the saccate graphene oxide-based cells on a substrate to form a graphene oxide-based membrane.

Nitrogen-doped carbon-based catalyst sheets, methods for producing such carbon-based catalyst sheets, and their use as electrocatalysts in oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). A carbon-based catalyst comprising: carbon-based sheets, wherein the carbon-based sheets comprise nitrogen and a transition metal, and wherein the carbon-based sheets further comprise a plurality of micropores, mesopores, macropores, or combinations thereof.

Electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction and methods of making and use thereof

An insoluble thin hydroxide shell is synthesized on the surface of nanoscale zero-valent iron (NZVI), using a rate-controlled deprotonation method. The hydroxide coated NZVI remains suspended in aqueous phase better than the prior art and can be used to remove groundwater contaminants.
