A method of manufacturing an elastic composite includes forming a preform from a filler filled one-dimensional elastic structure that contains a filler and a matrix material forming a pattern that provides elasticity to the one-dimensional elastic structure; and forming the elastic composite from the preform via one or more of the following: sintering; compression molding; or hot isostatic pressing.

Methods of making high temperature elastic composites

A degradable polymer composition comprises a polyurethane comprising ester groups in a backbone of the polyurethane and carboxylic acid groups attached to the backbone of the polyurethane; and a filler comprising one or more of the following: a powder comprising particles having an average particle size of about 5 microns to about 500 microns; or a fiber having an average length of about &#x215b; inch to about 5 inches. Also disclosed are articles comprising the composition. A method to degrade the article includes exposing the article to a fluid at a temperature of about 25&#xb0; C. to about 300&#xb0; C.

Degradable extrusion resistant compositions and articles of manufacture

A seal assembly features radially stacked sealing elements separated by a ring shaped structural member with the structural member configured to fold on itself as the inner and outer sealing elements are axially compressed during the setting process. The structural member remains embedded in the outer sealing element when the assembly is set. Seal rings flank the inner and outer sealing element and feature an outwardly facing bevel to contact a conforming bevel shape on extrusion ring assemblies. During axial compression the extrusion rings are pushed out with the seal rings and then the inner and outer sealing elements are axially compressed as the structural member's ends come together and its middle folds. The structural member creates gaps to allow fluid to escape during setting.

A degradable polymer composite comprises a polyurethane comprising one or more of the following groups: ester groups; carbonate groups; or ether groups, in a backbone of the polyurethane; and about 1 to about 30 parts by weight of an acidic or basic powder comprising particles having an average size of about 5 microns to about 1 millimeter per 100 parts of the polyurethane.

A method of manufacturing a hemiaminal dynamic covalent network (HDCN) comprises reacting a diamine and formaldehyde in the presence of a reaction medium comprising a polar solvent and a nonpolar solvent at a temperature of about 15&#xb0; C. to about 100&#xb0; C. to form the HDCN. Methods of manufacturing poly(hexahydrotriazine)s via suspension or emulsion polymerization

Nanocomposite microgel particles containing a three-dimensional network, containing a water-swellable nanoclay and an organic network polymer. The nanocomposite microgel particles include primary nanocomposite microgel particles having a mean diameter of 1 to 10 micrometers. Also disclosed is a method of manufacture for the nanocomposite microgel particles. The nanocomposite microgel particles can be used together with a base polymer to provide water swellable compositions.
