A first oriented film comprising a first polyethylene composition which comprises: from 20 to 50 wt % of a first linear low density polyethylene polymer having a density greater than 0.925 g/cc and an Ilower than 2 g/10 min; and from 80 to 50 wt % of a second linear low density polyethylene polymer having a density lower than or equal to 0.925 g/cc and an Igreater than or equal to 2 g/10 min; wherein the first polyethylene composition has an Ifrom 0.5 to 10 g/10 min and a density from 0.910 to 0.940 g/cc is provided.

Oriented polyethylene films and a method for making the same

Embodiments of the present invention relate to multilayer structures and articles formed therefrom. In one aspect, a multilayer structure comprises (a) a biaxially oriented polyethylene film comprising a linear low density polyethylene having a density of 0.910 to 0.940 g/cm, wherein the ultimate elongation in the machine direction of the biaxially oriented polyethylene film is at least 2 times greater than the ultimate elongation in the cross direction, and wherein the ultimate tensile strength of the biaxially oriented polyethylene film is at least 60 MPa in at least one of the machine direction and the cross direction; (b) an adhesive layer; and (c) a sealant film, wherein the ultimate elongation of the sealant film is at least 300% in at least one of the machine direction and the cross direction, wherein the ultimate tensile strength of the sealant film is less than 50 MPa in at least one of the machine direction and the cross direction, and wherein the sealant film has a heat seal initiation temperature of 105° C. or less; wherein the sealant film is laminated to the biaxially oriented polyethylene film by the adhesive. In some embodiments, the sealant film comprises at least one layer comprising at least 30 percent by weight of a polyolefin plastomer, a polyolefin elastomer, an ultra low density polyethylene, an ethylene acetate copolymer, an ethylene acrylic acid copolymer, or an ethylene acrylate copolymer.

Multilayer structures and articles comprising the same

Provided is a coextruded multilayer film. The coextruded multilayer film has at least two layers, including a sealant layer and a second layer in contact with the sealant layer. The sealant layer contains (A) a first ethylene-based polymer having a density from 0.865 g/cc to 0.930 g/cc and a melt index from 0.5 g/10 min to 25 g/10 min; (B) an unsaturated primary fatty acid amide having a melting point of 100&#xb0; C. or less; and (C) a diprotic fatty acid having a melting point greater than 100&#xb0; C. and a decomposition temperature greater than 200&#xb0; C. The second layer contains a second ethylene-based polymer. Also provided is a laminate containing said sealant layer.

Multilayer films and laminates containing slip agents

A composition suitable for making uncrosslinked polyethylene foam and an uncrosslinked polyethylene foam comprising: 50-95 wt. % of a low density polyethylene having a density ranging from 0.915 to 0.930 g/cc and melt index of 1-4 g/10 min; and 5-50 wt. % of an ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer having: a density ranging from 0.910-0.930 g/cc; a melt index ranging from 0.5 to 6.0 g/10 min; a Mw/Mn of from 2.8 to 4.5; and a ZSVR of 1.8 to 10.0.

Compositions suitable for manufacturing polyethylene foam, and articles thereof

The present invention discloses a process for forming a biaxially oriented film. The process includes first selecting a polyolefin resin wherein said polyolefin resin comprises a linear low density polyethylene resin characterized by having from 9 to 35 weight percent of the total weight of linear low density polyethylene resin eluting from a CEF at a temperature greater than 97.0&#xb0; C.; and further characterized by having a CDR of from 33 to 80 and a Mw Ratio of from 0.15 to 0.45. Next a film is formed from the polyolefin resin selected in the first step. Finally the film formed in the second step is oriented in a sequential manner. The films produced by this process are characterized by having an ultimate elongation at least 1.5 times greater in the MD as compared to the CD and the 2% secant modulus is a least 1.25 times greater in the CD as compared to the MD. The films are further characterized by having free residual shrinkage of less than 10% in the MD and less than 10% in the CD when exposed to a temperature of 90&#xb0; C. for 10 minutes.

Bioriented polyethylene film

The present invention relates to a multilayer film comprising a skin layer comprising a anhydride and/or carboxylic acid functionalized ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer having a melting point in the range of from 50 to 89&#xb0; C., wherein the anhydride and/or carboxylic acid is present in an amount of from 0.02 to 0.3 percent by weight of the polyethylene based resin. The multilayer film further comprises a substrate layer comprising a resin selected from the group consisting of polypropylene or polyethylene terephthalate.

Film composition for paper thermal lamination application

The coextruded multilayer film has at least two layers, including a sealant layer and a second layer in contact with the sealant layer. The sealant layer contains (A) a first ethylene-based polymer having a density from 0.865 g/cc to 0.930 g/cc and a melt index from 0.5 g/10 min to 25 g/10 min; (B) an unsaturated primary fatty acid amide having a melting point of 100&#xb0; C. or less; and (C) a saturated primary fatty acid amide having a melting point greater than 100&#xb0; C. The unsaturated primary fatty acid amide and the saturated primary fatty acid amide have a weight ratio of from 3:1 to 1:6. The second layer contains a second ethylene-based polymer. The present disclosure also provides a laminate containing said sealant layer.

The present disclosure is directed to a retort pouch. In an embodiment, the retort pouch includes a multilayer film with at least three layers. The at least three layers include (A) a skin layer comprising a blend of a propylene-based polymer and a styrenic block copolymer, (B) a seal layer comprising blend of a propylene-based polymer and a styrenic block copolymer, and (C) a core layer located between the skin layer (A) and the seal layer (B). The core layer comprises a blend of (1) a propylene-based polymer, (2) an ethylene-based polymer, and (3) a crystalline block composite (CBC).

Multilayer film and pouch with same

Embodiments of the present invention relate to biaxially oriented, multilayer polyethylene films and to laminates and articles formed therefrom. In one aspect, a biaxially oriented, multilayer polyethylene film comprises Layer A which is a sealant layer p having a top facial surface and a bottom facial surface and comprising a first polyethylene, wherein the first polyethylene has a density of at least 0.900 g/cm, an Iof 20-60 kg/mol, and a MWof greater than 130 kg/mol, wherein Layer A comprises at least 50 weight percent of the first polyethylene based on the weight of Layer A, and Layer B having a top facial surface and a bottom facial surface, wherein Layer B comprises one or more additional polyethylenes, and wherein the top facial surface of Layer B is in adhering contact with a bottom facial surface of Layer A, wherein the density of the first polyethylene is at least 0.002 g/cmless than the density of Layer B.

A multilayer ethylene-based shrink films comprising a core layer comprising a polyethylene resin, and two skin layers, wherein the core layer is positioned between the two skin layers, wherein the polyethylene resin comprises greater than 50 mol. % of the units derived from ethylene and less than 30 mol. % of the units derived from one or more alpha-olefin comonomers, has greater than 50% of the copolymer fraction eluting between 75.0&#xb0; C. and 95.0&#xb0; C. as determined by Crystallization Elution Fractionation (CEF), and has a density ranging from 0.915 to 0.940 g/cc, and wherein the film is biaxially-oriented.

Shrink films with high tear resistance, and methods of making thereof

The instant invention provides a linear low density polyethylene composition suitable for cast film, films made therefrom, and packaging devices comprising one or more such film layers. The linear low density polyethylene composition suitable for cast film according to the present invention comprises an ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer composition having a Comonomer Distribution Constant (CDC) in the range of from 40 to 200, for example from 40 to 150, a vinyl unsaturation of less than 0.12 vinyls per one thousand carbon atoms present in the backbone of the ethylene-based polymer composition; a zero shear viscosity ratio (ZSVR) in the range from 1.2 to 5, for example from 1.5 to 4; a density in the range of from 0.910 to 0.935, for example from 0.915 to 0.925, g/cm, a melt index (I) in a range of from 1 to 10, for example from 2 to 6 g/10 minutes, a molecular weight distribution (M/M) in the range of from 2 to 3.5.

Linear low density polyethylene composition suitable for cast film

A multilayer film is disclosed, having at least two layers. A first layer includes a first interpolymer of ethylene and at least one alpha-olefin. The first interpolymer has a density of less than 0.925 g/cm3, and an average Mand a valley temperature between the interpolymer and high crystalline fraction, T, such that the average Mfor a fraction above Tfrom ATREF divided by average Mof the whole polymer from ATREF (M/M) is less than about 1.95 and the first interpolymer has a CDBI of less than 60%. At least one other second layer includes a second inter-polymer of ethylene and at least one alpha-olefin, the second interpolymer having a density from 0.925 to 0.965 g/cm3. The interpolymer of ethylene and at least one alpha-olefin can have a high density fraction and an overall density such that % HD fraction &#x3c;0.0168x2&#x2212;29.636x+13036 where x=density in g/cm3.
