A testing pressure vessel for permeability testing of a cured concrete sample. The testing pressure vessel includes a cylindrical pressure vessel with a sample injection port and a casing fluid injection port, and a casing fluid outlet port and an outlet port. The testing pressure vessel also includes a hydraulic inlet, and a sleeve positioned adjacent to an inner surface of the cylindrical pressure vessel and the hydraulic inlet. The testing pressure vessel further includes a plurality of pressure ports to measure a pressure exerted on the sleeve. The testing involves applying confining pressure and injection pressure to the cured concrete sample, to have the confining pressure to at least 300 psi higher than the injection pressure until a predetermined injection pressure is achieved. The testing further includes measuring the permeability of the cured concrete sample directly by measuring the pressure exerted on the sleeve.

A dual core flooding apparatus and process are disclosed that provide for testing of two core plugs using different orientations and multiple fluids. The dual core flooding apparatus includes at least two core holders each configured to contain a core plug. The dual core flooding apparatus includes a fluids delivery system configured to inject one or more fluids into the core holders and core plugs. The dual core flooding apparatus includes an image capture system, a density and viscosity measurement system, and at least two oil/water separators. The dual core flooding apparatus also includes at least two back pressure regulators and an automated confining pressure system. A dual core flooding process may include introducing at least one fluid into the core holders, maintaining confining pressure and back pressure, and measuring density and viscosity of existing fluids.

Multiple function dual core flooding apparatus and methods

Radial core flooding apparatus and method for analysis of static and/or dynamic properties of reservoir rock

A dual core flooding apparatus is disclosed. The dual core flooding apparatus includes at least two core holders each configured to contain a core plug. The dual core flooding apparatus includes a fluids delivery system configured to inject one or more fluids into the core holders and core plugs. The dual core flooding apparatus includes an image capture system, a density and viscosity measurement system, and at least two oil/water separators. The present invention relates to methods and compositions that can be used to delay crystallization of a treatment solution so that thief zones or fractures are plugged in subterranean formations at a substantial distance from a wellbore. A supersaturated sodium aluminate solution, or other solutions, is introduced into the reservoir. The solution is relatively stable in the supersaturated state. Crystallization, or de-stabilizing the solution, can be controlled, which in turn plugs the thief zone or fracture at a designed point of time. By controlling the time that crystallization starts, that is, the induction period, thief zones that are located at a substantial distant from the wellbore can be plugged.
