An idler having an axis of rotation. The idler may include a hub with a flange. A plurality of rim members are positioned along a perimeter of the flange and have generally axially facing, opposite side surfaces. At least one of the side surfaces has a first interlocking formation. A clamping plate is connected to the flange. The clamping plate has a second interlocking formation coupled with the first interlocking formation. A dampening member interposes the first and second interlocking formations.

Sound reducing segmented idler for track-type vehicles

An isolated center tread rim idler is disclosed. The isolated center tread rim idler includes an idler body, and a circular rim including a radially outer portion configured to engage track bushings of a track assembly. The circular rim also includes a radially inner portion of less width than the radially outer portion. The radially inner portion is configured to cooperate with an outer circumferential surface of the idler body. The circular rim includes a curved transition portion between the radially outer portion and the radially inner portion. A resilient ring engages the curved transition portion. A side plate is fastened to a side of the idler body, and the side plate includes a portion engaging the resilient ring.

A method of forming a composite overlay compound on a substrate includes forming a mixture including at least one component from a first group of component materials including titanium, chrome, tungsten, vanadium, niobium, and molybdenum. The mixture also includes at least one component from a second group of component materials including carbon and boron, and the mixture further includes at least one component from a third group of component materials including silicon, nickel, and manganese. The mixture of selected component materials is then applied to a substrate material to form an overlay compound on the substrate material. The overlay compound is fused to the substrate to form a metallurgical bond between the substrate material and the overlay compound.

Carbon deposits on engine components can negatively affect engine performance. An engine of the present disclosure includes at least one carbon deposit resistant engine component attached to an engine housing. The engine component includes at least one relatively high surface tension surface that is a non-contact wear surface and to which a relatively low surface tension coating is attached. The relatively low surface tension coating has a surface tension at least one of equal to and less than 30 dyne/cm.

A cylinder rod with wear-resistant surface markings is provided. The cylinder rod may include a rod substrate, a thermal-spray coating disposed on a surface of the substrate, and one or more surface markings disposed on the coating at predetermined locations along the length of the cylinder rod.
