A system and method of performing fault diagnosis and analysis for one or more vehicles. The method includes: obtaining design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA) data that specifies a plurality of failure modes; receiving diagnostic association data; receiving vehicle operation signals association data; generating augmented DFMEA data that indicates a causal relationship between the diagnostic data and the first set of failure modes, and that indicates a causal relationship between the vehicle operation signals data and the second set of failure modes, wherein the augmented DFMEA data is generated based on the DFMEA data, the diagnostic association data, and the vehicle operation signals association data; and performing fault diagnosis and analysis for the one or more vehicles using the augmented DFMEA data.

The state of charge disparity factor (dSOC) is defined as a difference between a minimum value of the state of charge and an average value of the state of charge of the plurality of cells. The controller is configured to control operation of the device based in part on the state of charge disparity factor (dSOC) and a plurality of parameters (P), including raising one or more of a plurality of flags each transmitting respective information to a user.

Controlling operation of device with rechargeable energy storage pack based on propulsion loss assessment

A system for monitoring operation of a vehicle includes a processing device including an interface configured to receive measurement data from sensing devices configured to measure parameters of a vehicle system. The processing device is configured to receive measurement data from each of the plurality of sensing devices, and in response to detection of a malfunction in the vehicle, input at least a subset of the measurement data to a machine learning classifier associated with a vehicle subsystem, the classifier configured to define a class associated with normal operation of the vehicle subsystem. The processing device is also configured to determine whether the subset of the measurement data belongs to the class, and based on at least a selected amount of the subset of the measurement data being outside of the class, output a fault indication, the fault indication identifying the vehicle subsystem as having a contribution to the malfunction.

Monitoring and diagnosing vehicle system problems using machine learning classifiers

A method and system of diagnosing a lubrication system of an engine includes determining a lubrication system fault and controlling an engine in response to the fault. The method is operative to first determine a poor state of health for a lubrication system, then determine an oil degradation or lube system fault. In response to a lube system fault, engine operation is altered in order to reduce the negative effects of the lube system fault such as increasing minimum idle speed in response to reduced oil pressure.

Method of managing a propulsion system based on health of a lubrication system

A method of diagnosing a lubrication system of an engine includes controlling an oil pump with a control signal. The control signal is a command having a value for a desired lubrication fluid pressure from the oil pump for a current operating state of the engine. A processing unit compares the value of the control signal for the current operating state of the engine to a threshold control value for the current operating state of the engine. When the processing unit determines that the value of the control signal for the current operating state of the engine deviates from the threshold control value for the current operating state of the engine, the processing unit analyzes the value of the control signal to identify a fault in the lubrication system.

Method of diagnosing a lubrication system of an engine

An engine fuel delivery system, prognosis system, and method of conducting a fuel pump solenoid prognosis are provided. The engine fuel delivery system includes a fuel pump having a pumping chamber, a closeable inlet valve (such as a fuel pump control solenoid), and a fuel rail to communicate pressurized fuel received from the fuel pump to at least one engine cylinder. The engine fuel delivery system, prognosis system, and method are configured to determine a solenoid current feedback of a fuel pump control solenoid and a variation in the feedback. The fuel delivery system, prognosis system, and method are further configured to indicate a potential solenoid electrical connection fault if the solenoid current feedback is less than a predetermined current threshold and less than a predetermined variation threshold, and to indicate a potential solenoid weakened electromagnetic field fault if the solenoid current feedback is greater than the predetermined variation threshold.
