Improving transmitter Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) may be provided. Improving EIRP may include sending a trigger frame to a client and receiving an uplink transmission from the client in response. A client Transmission (TX) power and a Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) associated with the client may be determined using the uplink transmission. Next, a client location may be determined. A pathloss associated with the client may be determined using the client location and the uplink transmission. A directional gain may then be determined using the client TX power, the pathloss, and the RSSI. An array gain is determined based on the directional gain. An Access Point (AP) TX power is adjusted based on the array gain.

Real-time radio self-calibration may be provided. The self-calibration may begin by sampling a Transmission (TX) signal. An achievable Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) for one or more frames may be determined based on the TX signal. Link budgets for clients may be determined using a TX power and a supported Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS). A per packet TX power is adjusted based on the achievable EVM and a TX retry rate. The PA linearity of the radio may also be adjusted based on the achievable EVM and the link budget. The client may be regrouped into a new MCS based on the link budget.

In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a plurality of antennas, a plurality of Front End Modules (FEMs) coupled to the antennas, an input for receiving Power over Ethernet (PoE), a PoE detector for identifying a type of PoE received at the apparatus, wherein the type of PoE is associated with a PoE power budget, and a power controller for applying a PoE power conservation policy based on the PoE power budget, wherein applying the PoE power conservation policy comprises switching between a normal operating voltage and a reduced operating voltage at the FEMs. A method is also disclosed herein.

Dynamic access point radio frequency power control for power over Ethernet adaptation

Embodiments for preliminary antenna configuration for a radio in an access point are described. A preliminary antenna configuration with a first number of antennas transmitting at a first power level based on a maximum transmission power for the radio is used to determine a second antenna configuration based on network level factors, where the second antenna configuration includes a second number of antennas. The second antenna configuration is used to determine a third antenna configuration from the second antenna configuration, where the third antenna configuration includes a third number of antennas transmitting at a third power level based on a client transmission factors for a plurality of client devices connected to the access point. The third antenna configuration is used to transmit network traffic from the access point to the plurality of client devices using the third antenna configuration.

Altering antenna configuration using network and client conditions

In one embodiment, a method is performed. A device may receive an antenna state configuration and a sequence from a wireless access point (AP) device. A plurality of antenna states configured on the device may be selected based on the antenna state configuration and the sequence. An inertial measurement unit (IMU) measurement may be determined. A beacon signal may be transmitted for each selected antenna state. Each transmitted beacon signal may indicate a corresponding selected antenna state.
