A system, media, and method, for aperiodic antenna calibration triggering in a wireless network is provided. Following a calibration of an antenna, a recalibration of the antenna is triggered upon determining that a recalibration criterion is met. The determination is made based on monitoring a reported power level of a transmitted signal as measured by a stationary and/or mobile client device couple to the wireless network.

Aperiodic antenna calibration triggering method

A first enhanced Node B (eNB) and method for contention-free handoff return in a wireless network are provided. The first eNB in one example embodiment includes a transceiver system configured to communicate with a User Equipment (UE) and a processing system coupled to the transceiver system and configured to receive signal strength information from the UE, with the processing system being further configured to obtain a pre-handoff CF preamble for handoff of the UE from the first eNB to the second eNB, provide the pre-handoff CF preamble to the UE, generate a post-handoff CF preamble for the UE where the UE can use the post-handoff CF preamble to return from the second eNB to the first eNB, and provide the post-handoff CF preamble to the UE.

Contention-free handoff return in a wireless network

A remote radio head system (RRH) transmits first Radio-Frequency-signals (signals) at a first frequency-band (band) and second signals at a second band. The RRH receives and processes first control-data (data) to determine a first duty-cycle (cycle). In response to the first data and based on the first cycle, the RRH switches power between a first power amplifier system (PA) and a second PA and transmits the first signals at the first band through the first PA and transmits the second signals at the second band through the second PA. The RRH receives and processes second data to determine a second cycle. Responding to the second data and based on the second cycle, the RRH switches power between the first PA and the second PA and transmits the first signals at the first band through the first PA and transmits the second signals at the second band through the second PA.

Switching power between power amplifier systems in a remote radio head system

A method and system for facilitating end-to-end quality of service in a 3G packet data network. A packet-data session is set up between a mobile station and a packet-data network, via a base station and a packet data serving node (PDSN). The base station manages quality of service for the session as it passes over the air interface, and the PDSN manages quality of service for the session as it passes into the packet-data network. The PDSN translates between quality of service on the packet-data network and quality of service on the air interface, and the PDSN and base station communicate the quality of service information, so that both the base station and PDSN can work to set up consistent levels of quality of service on their respective links.
