Collision handling method and apparatus

This application relates to a communication method and apparatus. A terminal device sends first uplink data to a network device. After sending the first uplink data, the terminal device monitors a first downlink control channel in a first search space in a first duration; and after the first duration ends, the terminal device monitors a second downlink control channel in a second search space in a second duration. A length of a periodicity of the second search space is greater than a length of a periodicity of the first search space. In this case, the terminal device monitors the second downlink control channel based on the second search space at a low frequency. Therefore, the second search space with a long periodicity is set, so that power consumption of monitoring the downlink control channel by the terminal device can be reduced.

Example reference signal sending methods and apparatus are described. In one example method, a terminal device detects whether a paging scheduling message exists in a PDCCH search space whose starting subframe is a subframe corresponding to a paging occasion (PO), and/or detects whether a wake-up signal (WUS) exists before a PO. A network device determines a time domain resource in first duration based on a quantity of paging occasions in a discontinuous reception period, where the time domain resource is a time domain resource in a time-frequency resource used to transmit a reference signal. This solution is applicable to a wireless communications system including a first cell. This application provides example communication methods and apparatuses. One example method includes performing, by a network device on a preconfigured resource, data demodulation on uplink data from a terminal device. The network device can then send downlink control information (DCI) to the terminal device, where the DCI includes first indication information, and if the uplink data fails to be demodulated, or it is determined, based on a result of the data demodulation, that the terminal device needs to retransmit the uplink data, the first indication information indicates either the terminal device to initiate random access or EDT and retransmit the uplink data or that the uplink data fails to be demodulated.

The method includes transmitting, by a terminal device, first information based on a first repetition number, where the first repetition number is less than or equal to a second repetition number, and the second repetition number is a maximum repeat transmission number of the first information. The method also includes determining, by the terminal device, a scheduling end moment of the first information based on the second repetition number, where the scheduling end moment of the first information is a transmission end moment of the first information when the first information is transmitted based on the second repetition number. The first terminal device determines a time domain location that is (first duration×N H+second duration×(N−1)) away from the reference time domain location as a start time domain location of X gaps.
